Tomei make one that wires into the HICAS computer and also uses metal shim's to lock the wheels in at the correct angle.

Not sure which is better (bar v electronic thingy and shim's).

I've got the Tomei kit in mine and never had any problems with it.

I decided to use a chrome moly rear brace to replace the steering rack. The replacement bar is lighter then the rack, and as the R32 GTSt uses hydraulic vs the R33 electronic, there is a further weight saving to be had by ripping out the lines and associated hydraulics for the rear rack.

As for the light in my dash it still comes on with all the other warning lights when i turn the ignItion on, but once car is started it goes out like all the other dash warning lights, so warnining light would still seem to be functioning.

I dont know if one is better then the other, but the final reult is replacing the entire rear steering rack will save a few kgs, and is cheaper then the Tomei kit.

the computer on the tomei kit simply turns the hicas light off, doesn't lock anything

It stops the HICAS computer reporting errors hence the 5-7 wires.

If it was just to turn the light off I'm sure it would be a lot easier.
