I'm running all of those mods incl. PFC and spitfires...my duty cycle gets to about 75-80 max...never seen it go higher...I'm running 550cc SARDS.

you will need a good clutch...the stock one will go in no time...lol mine is about rooted and I'm getting a one made now.

As for the knock...I'm trying to get it under 20 all the time...but under heavy load on a hot day it may drift a bit over 30. I'm not to sure what are good values but if SydneyKid reckons under 20 then under 20 it is..

Because larger injectors use more fuel?

Isn't it the case that the larger the injector the less 'fine' tuning you can do: Read: At idle and low rpm work the minimums aren't as precise?

Wrong; get a computer with a high enough resolution and you've got no problems whatsoever... PFCs run a 24 x 24 map; which is good but limited... other ECUs are capable of running 32x32 maps so go figure. Also comes down to the tuner and how much attention they pay to getting it right.

Because you buy injectors that suit IMO.

Why get 600 sards? They are not a "bolt on", they need collars and rooting around.

The Nismo are a bolt in job, and will supply enough fuel for 260rwkw.

IMO - its the best choice of injectors.

Really? I don't remember putting in any collars or having much rooting around when my 650s were installed... all I remember was plug n play. I think your knowledge on what is now available needs updating my friend.

Best choice of injectors... depends how far you want to go. But as I said, down to the tuner - personally I'd much rather have that space to move forward than to go for something that will "just suffice" for now.

satanic you would be the first that ive heard of with no mucking around with sard injectors as they have never been a bolt in plug n play type. Ive fitted three sets to rb25's and each time we needed the collars and had to rewire the plugs to suit their own...two sets of 550cc and one set of 850cc. So unless they have changed it recently, they are still a stuff around in comparison to a nismo injector. I thought i read somehow a while back that the sards are a direct replacement for some toyota engines, thats why we needed the collars and plugs to suit.

Did you install the injectors or a workshop?

He wants 260rwkw, so thats how far he wants to go. The first post is pretty specific.

They wont "just suffice" they are more than adequate... with approx 40rwkw or more worth of headroom, or there abouts.

I think its fair to say his choice is very well educated.

Its like getting a GT42 for 260rwkw, yes it will make the power, but its not the best turbo for the job

I'll say it again; do your research - SARD 650cc and SARD 800cc injectors are a DIRECT REPLACEMENT with NO screwing around...

All I'm saying is that for the same price as the Nismo 480cc injectors you MIGHT AS WELL!

so what are the options with injectors are there any u an use from a different car (ie top feed GTR injectors) or is it best to get new ones

Im only after 440-480cc and where is the best and cheapest place to buy them

The JDM thing is a myth. S15 manual spec are 480cc, auto spec are 370cc. Doesn't matter where the car was sold; I did the parts number checks before getting a set.

correct. easy way to check is, 370cc's are purple coloured, 480cc's are red coloured.

as for the sards i beleive they are single pintle and dont atomise fuel as well as the nismos which are 4 pintle, so im led to believe

edit: not sure about rb's, although they are also side feed.. but sr20's require collars to fit sards into stock rail

Incorrect...

Jesus, am I the only one with these injectors? Hasn't anyone else bought a set...

hahaha relax satanic.. yes u are right the sard injectors are a straight drop in for the r34 i opted for the 800's ... i needed them but hey about idle control its fine just needed some fine tuning thats all ..and yes your right it also comes down to tuner as well and your right about the single pintle as well ..hahaha

YOUR JUST RIGHT ALL THE TIME SATANIC...ahahahaha j/k

cheers

Exedy clutch is good.

Sard injectors ARE 100% drop in replacement now, they weren't previously.

GCG high flow is the one you want.

Oil cooler = mandatory.

Radiator.... = mandatory as I blew mine up and a mate did just recently also.

I'm on the same page at the moment. Looking to upgrade now too...

I need -

Turbo

Clutch

Injectors??

Air flow Meter??

Have -

ARC cooler

Front/Dump pipe

Fujitsubo catback w/hiflow cat

Power FC

Oil cooler

Bleed valve

What sort of highflow turbo are you guys using/looking at. I see so much variation in price...

The variation in price in similar sized/expected power turbos is usually the bearing type. Some of the bb style rebuilds are close to the cost of a new turbo although you end up with less installation issues and have no parts to buy/modify. To the uneducated I'd almost sound like I knew what I was going on about.

I'm going with a Slide max oversize and see how that goes. Pretty much the same list of mods as most so far. I have a set of JECS 550cc injectors to go in. Sounds like I'll need a new radiator as well.

I'm just about to put a JustJap radiator in mine. The current one I have is a copper twin core with stock top and bottom tanks which works quite well but I want to do 20 laps without getting too warm rather than then 10 I currently get.

I was just re-iterating what I have read in a few discussions on this before.

It was my understanding that if you got some large injectors say 800cc, that at 2~3% duty cycle at idle, the atomisation they create in their injection isn't as good as a lower value injector, obviously depending on the quality of the injector.

Again as I said, this was just shit i've read, nothing proven, I was just interested to see if it was true or not.

Thanks guys, appreciate the feedback on the clutches. Could you guys post up what you paid for it so I can get a general idea of what they cost?

Abo Bob - the 440cc I have aren't Nismo, they're Dephi and are apparently direct fit replacement.

R31 Nismoid - I don't plan on buying coilpacks yet, I'll try the cleaning the carbon rod and silicon method first before I decide to fork out $600 odd. The fuel reg is already in my posession so I might hang onto it to see if its needed when the tune is done, if not I might just sell it off.

Wessa02 & 2gceffy: which clutch are you referring to? The twin plates or heavy duty ones?

mine is just a modified excedy one as far as i know and it cost me about 300 from memory however my mates run the bigger ones, again im not sure if theyre the triple plates or just got a extremely strong single or twin plates but both handle 400rwhp no worries and theyre certainly not hard to use on the street slightly heavier on the pedal and got alot more bite but you get used to it real quick, I only find it a handful in the wet though.

    • Throwing my spoon to the soup here a bit.  When I installed a 044 back in 2012, along with the direct power mod, the car became very difficult to start. To a point I burned one starter motor as I was late for work and tried to get the thing going. With some tuning and careful use of gas pedal when cranking it became bearable. Trying to make this short as possible, but the 044 died after 2-3 years, after which I went with an AEM 320lph pump, which also died after about 4 years to my dismay. After that I went with a Nismo pump, and while trying diagnose an emissions problem, I noticed for the first time that my fuel pressure was 5bar/72psi on idle, and that removing the vacuum line did nothing. After monitoring the situation, and removing the direct power feed and going back to FPCM in attempts to remedy it, I noticed there was fuel in the pressure regulator vac line. Kept the FPCM, installed AEM external regu and the car became sooo much better in every way, including starting. And I had driven it like it was for 11 years.. Anyway, I agree these are likely two different problems, and the FP problem you just haven't noticed before. I do not know much about haltecs, but what first came to mind was the CAS, which probably is not there any more. So how is the wiring from haltec to gauge cluster? How is the battery voltage and alternator?
    • Your car was auto before? You have different diff ratio (auto vs manual i think? or n/a and turbo?)
    • +1 for getting a screen off alibaba, CarPlay/Android Auto is vastly better than whatever navigation cars had 10 years ago. I got an Android screen for my 2015 BMW, huge difference. Fully compatible with factory stuff including iDrive controls.
