So. After a 12 hour shift at work, just cruisein home from work sitting on 55 in a 60 zone, see a tmu car pass i think to my self 'here we go'. so he does a u turn, chucks the lights on, and i pull over. now i greet him all nice and that, BAM asshole straight off. i go to pop the hood for him, and it got stuck, so he says to me 'what if there was a fire under the hood? hey? what ya gonna do then?' im like 'what the.. but fair enough' so he goes over the car, picking out shit that wasnt even defectable. then he seen my dose pipe ( acts like a bov ) and he starts all this crap about how there is more then 10 things wrong with the car.

my dad is a local cop, my brother also, and brother in law is a cop also! after he found this out by looking at me license, just keep on with this shit abusing me, and being a real cockhead. i respected cops, every other time i get pulled over they are great. but this one guy, a well known goon has turned me off cops completely. why do they have to act like wankers? because they hold a badge? so he lets me go and says if he see's me anytime soon its defected.

i got his badge number and name and said 'have a nice night officer, go catch some real criminals'. my old man is a respect cop in Bendigo, and he is mates with this cop yet he even treats cops sons like this. its all just crap, im lucky i kept my cool. so yeah, my old man is going to see him tommorow and ask him what the fu*k is his problem. and i am not hidein behind my dad, i think its all just crap. so yeah, what a nite.

Yeah, its so f**king dodgy when cops treat everyone the same regardless of who they are, instead of giving preferential protection to certain subsections of society.

Its not like the justice system they're sworn to enforce is built on consistency and fairness, after all.

Its a bit of a shit that you copped grief from the cops, but it shouldn't matter if you're some Allah-worshipping Aborigine or the Prime Minister as to how you're treated. You're either doing something legal, or you're not.

Sorry to burst your bubble but you probably do have defectable items on your car but he didnt book you.

Sounds like you got a good deal to me.

Pretty funny line though "what if you had a fire under the hood?" What are you going to do, open the bonnet and put the flames out? No you have a fire under the hood then you're cars done. You get out and walk away.

why should you be treated any different because you are a cops son? sure the fella was acting like a tool, but if he does it to other people as well at least he is fair. i hate hearing about how the families of cops or politicians get away with shit. if they break the law they should pay the same price as all the others.

Badge, Gun = Wankers! And do you know what the problem is...? I've traveled many parts of the world and nowhere and I'm mean nowhere do you come across cops like you do here (Victoria especially) Everywhere else I've been the police are approachable, likable and don't have an ego the size of Texas. Aussie (Victorian especially) police could really take a leaf out of other police forces book.

no offence mad082, but you dont understand what being in a family of cop's is like in a small town. doesnt work like melbourne or any larger town. cops just dont book other cops family members etc, it just dont happen. its not like a name drop everytime something bad happens, they pick up on the connection as soon as they see my license. if i have a choice, i try not to mention my old man anyway, then he ends up going off. most cop's around the area are great, and wont do squat to you unless your being a nob.

Well i think its high time it did IMO. Good on the officer. He was doing his job as he should be.

You seem to have some perception you can do what you want, good thing that was put to rest.

You are no different to anyone else. Taking down his badge etc and making a complaint because your an officers son and you feel hard done by? riiight.

I'd like to hear the officers version of events and see if they compare with yours.

Im really sure he abused you...

true, in an ideal world the public would expect that, but usually not how it works. case that stuck in mind when I was 18 and in a friend's car.. he got done for speeding 30km/hr the limit.. cop said "oh you're inspector such and such's kid huh.. well get your dad to give me a ring in the morning and we'll maybe forget this happened'. Another friend is an officer in melb, and he gets away with a fair bit.. The stories he can tell of other cops pushing things over the law is sickening at times. It's the just the way it is..

still happens there.. just less likelihood of running into somebody you know .

but i have had a run in with some dodgy cops....i was lectured for 5-10 minute when i was pulled over for a "random" breath test, i wasnt speeding or doing anything stupid and was just pulled over and lectured that skylines are too powerful, skylines kill ppl, skyline bad this, skyline bad that...i dont think i should have copped that for just my choice in car...

I'd like to know how you think he could tell that you have family members in the force just by looking at your license?

    • Yeah kids certainly add a whole another dimension to your life.  Life ceases to be about you and more about them for a while!  And I wouldn't have it any other way.  I love watching them play sport and make new friends along the way. Wow, sounds like your mate is a good guy to know!!!  He's got some serious toys in the toy box!  Yes it would be lovely to be able to do stuff to your car without getting all tied up in boring shit like how to pay for it!!  I would describe my spending style as "aggressively spontaneous and logical but regrettable purchasing"....  That will hopefully make no sense at all which would be appropriate given that is how I buy stuff.  I'll decide at the drop of a hat that I'm buying something expensive, research the living shit out of it for 2 days straight then go out and buy it.  Then I'll have instant buyers remorse for 2 days which generally passes by the time it turns up on the front step!  If I'm feeling ballsy sometimes I'll tell my wife.  Other times it just makes its way silently passed the house and out the back to the shed, never to be spoken of again...
    • My extinguisher mounted like this unscrewed a little (Maybe from the chair sliding forward) and dumped a bit of white on my mats. I'll need to get a more narrow one for future.
    • I totally couldn't do the whole kids taking up my life thing! 馃槷 I find it bad enough doing 45 hours in 4 days, and then fitting normal adulting life into the other 3 with no kids! As for my mates race cars, they're AMG C63 setup for production racing. The original is what has just been stripped and a brand new shell built. The original is then going away to have some panels straightened, then it will be put back together again. Then there's a third that will shortly head off to have a roll cage put in, then build it up too. And potentially a fourth to be built too... Oh, and he has two Renault Clio D class production cars, ha ha. And when he's not racing them in the Australians and QLD production championships, he's been racing one of Chaz Mostert's Lamborghini's in GT4. They just won GT4 at the 12 hour in the Lambo. We're pushing to finish the new AMG as it has its first round (and potentially its first shakedown/outing) in under w weeks for Round one of QPC, and that round is really the shakedown to make sure it's all good for the Bathurst 6 hour, which I'll be at too. Ha ha ha Working on my project is different to his, I slowly tinker and work ways to make things happen on a shoe string budget. Hes in a good position that he has a massive workshop full of parts and tools, ha ha. He also looks after me. When his air compressor died, he just needed it working, so bought himself a new one and gave the old to me. Sand blaster unit too, and a 20t pressing. And pretty much all the shelving in my shed too as he upgraded all of his (the stuff he gave me is the expensive black Bunnings heavy duty stuff)!   I enjoy working on his stuff. No decision paralysis, and anything that's needed parts wise is just there. Plus, then I get to be hands on at the track in real racing, not just club day stuff.
