I am considering getting one of those 28$ delivered turbotech boost controllers.

I have tried reading the thread but honestly!!!!!!!!!!!! 70 pages ??? i ran out of popcorn..

:huh::P

ok well i am just curious if these are as reliable as an EBC.. as I do not want to damage my engine by boost spiking....

i figure use this till i get a pfc then at the same time ill get an ebc and put it up to around 14psi.

I have:

4" hks zorst tback (front dumps) (going into std cat) :)

and cooler

air filter

these are my performance mods

only wish to raise it to say 12psi?

i had it dynod stock with catback zorst pulled 160.5@ 9 pound boost

I figure i would be running close to 10 - 10.4 psi now as thats what my gauge reads (aftermarket).

curious what a safe level to boost it to until i get my pfc ect.

STOCK ECU :-P

12psi is a fine level to run. once you start going higher you run the risk of the turbo losing the compressor wheel, and the ecu hitting rich and retard.

i use one of these controllers and i run 14psi on it and it holds fine. it does bleed off a bit at high rpm, but you have to weigh up the price vs performance. less the $50 for something that will do the job more than fine, or hundreds of dollars for something that will do the job a little better.

cool... so has anyone experienced any boost spiking with these units?

i dont want to ruin my turbo or ne thing just want some extra safe kws... as my mate has boosted his up to around 13 and the something happened with a blown oil seal in his turbo... and it runs like dog poo now... :P;)

i run my stock turbo at 14psi, but i am just wanting to see how long it lasts, and i don't drive it hard very often. its mainly just cruising to work so i don't get past about 3500rpm.

i had spiking just after i did my fmic install. i had it running off the hose from the bov. then i put a nipple on the pipe from the turbo to the cooler and it runs fine now.

Make sure you take off the std restrictor or it will spike I would prefer the turbosmart boost T as the adjustment on the turbotech is very very fine and the turbosmart boost T has clicks on it very handy to much boost put it down 4 clicks and if you want to go back up just do the 4 clicks again I have used both I would chouse the Turbosmart.
