I think a more resonable way to do it is to give you $100 b4 ordering and the remaining balance on receival of goods. Sorry, but i never use ebay so not interested in their rating.

This $100 covers you for postage/insurance and part of the amp cost. If someone backs out after ordering, then you have approx. $80 profit and a new amp. that can be sold. I for one, do not give away $100 if i don't intend to complete the deal.

I also prefer to give the money in person, at your conveniance.

SKATIN - all you need is a good ear. Turn up the amp so that you can use at least 75% of your volume control off the deck before you start hearing any degradation in sound quality. Start with everything turned flat (gains, bass boost, etc). Get used to listening to it like that for a while. Then try increasing your amp settings a little so you can start to notice by ear what the setting actually changes. Then fine tune. Don't be unfulfilled if you realise you only need to turn up the amp to 20% or so for it to sound great.

Let me know how you go.

Thanks PuppaDuck will give it a go.

RGS as far as i understand all the buyers are in melb except nizmokid, so why don't we meet at a central location and exchange the monies and details??? maybe nizmokid could do what al suggested.

If not i like al's idea for all of us. Also R u sure Advanced audio cannot split the purchase into separate bills for all of us and then just COD to our separate locations, i don't see why they would have a problem with that, after all we are doing them a favour, :)

cheers fellas

:D REALLY GOOD NEWS! :)

Just spoke to the store manager, at Jaycar Coburg, and asked him if he can match the price. After about 1/2 hour of calls/web/negotiations i managed to get a price to match the one given.

It isn't cheaper, but A LOT more convieniant to buy the amps in Coburg, (WARRENTY reasons) He doesn't keep 4, or more, amps in stoke so we still have to wait 2 days till amps arrive.

Price: $332 each (for 4 or more units)

So what do you all think, i need a definate answer and deposit soon, should we go through Coburg.

Alan.

i am 'on call' this weekend, so we may have to meet at another date, or PM me your modile numbers and i will get in touch, also pm me your suburb, as i am on the road and may be in the area.

Nizmokid: this does not include postage but PM your nearest Jaycar location and i will see if we could get them to organise on there for you.

cool guys, how about we go on monday morning or early arvo, im also free tues before 12 and after 2, i only have uni for 2 hours on tuesday (slack). aways sounds good, i will pm all of you my mob number and we will talk. yeah yeah im pumped now, soon ill be just another idiot with a douf douf wagon, sounds good to me.

Shouldnt be a problem - Just ask Al - he's the man who's saved us the problem of having to order them over the Net! Any confirmation where/when we are going to meet? As I said Im good for Sunday or Friday night.

PS Good work Al on getting that deal - thats what I call team work!

yeah MaXiMuS007 your in.

Al can you meet up on friday night???

what time is jaycar open till, al if you live near me you can drop off the cash and ill get yours for you if you want. since you would see me face to face i think you could just me, plus i could give you some id, or license numbers or whatever, its cool coz i aint gonna piss off with the cash, unless i want to move to another country just to steal 320 bucks. smeams pointless to me.

ok cool i'm 95% when do you have to know by?

Also, with the group buy on Car Audio Australia, how come he can get em for $310? Surely you can do some more bargaining Al :)

And Finally, I don't know that much about car audio, but if you bridge 2 channels to run a sub, can u run a 2 ohm sub or will it blow the thing (or someone set me straight)

Thsi morning i decided that the post had been discussed enough times, and went out and ordered the amps, which have been paid in full. Small risk, but if anyone backs out i will sell the amp for $332. Hope no one does though, as it means more hassle for myself.

Sent everyone involved a PM so please respond accordingly. Even you Maximus007, hopefully i could get one more, but i must know tonight or early morning, CHECK YOUR PM!!

Sorry RGS, i hope i haven't offended you by taking control of the purchase :). Also managed to get individual receipts :).

Hear is a pick od the order/receipt form, as proof of purchase.

    • Had a go at the stuck crush tube this afternoon. Tried things like grips and a chain wrench first but wouldn't just twist straight off. So got to work with a drill. Started small and kept a depth stop on to make sure I didn't drill into the bolt. Made a line of drill holes all the way up and enlarged them. Then a combination of chisel and Dremel to split it all the way up. Levered the split to get oil in there and eventually it gave a bit while levering. Worked it back and forth with loads more oil till it was spinning freely, then with grips I could work it downwards and off. And no significant damage to the bolt (not by me anyway - just the 27 years of rust)
    • Well, I'm tired. I'm tired because about 4PM yesterday, before today's appointment someone immediately bought my bumper. They couldn't get it any other day as they're on the way back to NSW. So I had to do that big GTR conversion I had been planning. Unfortunately, the information on SAU about what you need and how this is done is incomplete. So what should be a simple bolt on affair, yeah, it's not. Did you know if you use all GTR items the bonnet won't close? This little manuever sent me into about 1am the night before trying to dodge a way to get it closed. I will have to revisit this in the next few days  - or maybe not, I may let a body shop figure it out. It all needs to come up and my motivation to pull the bumper off is low. It also seems to hit things in the bay where the GTT bonnet didn't. Yes I used 100% new OEM GTR items. Today, I had the joy of driving to the dyno looking like this: Given I had roughed in the fuel and given sensible but pretty conservative timing, I didn't really bet on having the car drive out any real difference than when it drove in. Sadly due to a miscommunication and laptop fun and games (and almost bricking the dongle, prayers and firmware updates indeed), I ended up using HP Tuner credits to licence the car that was already licenced. So in the end my laptop was used. It turns out my butt dyno is still well calibrated after all this time. The 325kw was on 74% Ethanol, the 313kw line was on 98. The other line is the 'before' line which was 281kw. While the numbers are pretty low, they're pretty in line with what you'd expect. Even if US dynos bump the whole result up about 50KW, gaining 10-15% is similar gains.  The curve of the cam is pretty much spot on with what was discussed as well. All this said, it still feels bad to not see the number you secretly want to see. Even if the car drove great beforehand, and I knew pretty confidently the car would drive out much the same way it drove in due to the nature of a wellish dialled in LS1 not gaining much if anything at all from being tuned from where it was. As expected, the car isn't particularly sensitive to running it at anywhere between 12.0 and 13.0 - And the initial timing at 20deg and 12.0 made 308KW. So 3 degrees of timing, and leaning it out to 12.7 for 5kw, anything above stopped giving any benefit until E85 (which has an additional 2 deg as before). Car itself behaved entirely fine. I found out that 100C = 1.15V! IAT at about 7pm was 19C. I might mess with the bonnet mounting.. but given the REO NEEDS TO BE CHOPPED TO FIT A GTR BAR this is possibly something I may leave gathering (more) dust until it returns to paint jail.
