Bleh, because its the tards in the government who make everything so hard. Its because the police force can brand people as hoons, that people get branded in such a way and its because of there ill thought-out laws that cops can make everything so difficult.

How is it that no one ever gets there car impounded for cutting in front of me and slamming on there brakes or tail gating me so close i can see there face, whereas people get there car impounded for doing stand stills. Speeding, fair enough, but just about everything is a hoon related offence now, even losing traction in the wet.

That burnout above was probably being done at 3km/h and its not like its a hugely populated area.. Far safer than going high-beaming or summat. Suppose its not only the government i should blame.. its the media.. zzzzz

123456 I feel your frustration, believe me, I do.

I'm at the point now where I'm seriously considering a dash mounted camera to capture the dangerous antics of idiots that I face every time I'm out on the road, if only to protect myself.

On Tuesday I witnessed someone mount the kerb and drive along the footpath between the nature strip and fences for a few hundred metres (almost hitting a school kid using the footpath) because they couldn't wait 20 seconds for the traffic to move so that they could get into their driveway.

I see things like this every time I get in the car, and I can put money on the fact that if I were to try something so stupid, I'd get done for it.

I mentioned this in another thread today, but i'll say it again, It's just unfortunate that in the South East, there is so much "general" crime, that Police don't get left with time for getting out on the roads and enforcing basic traffic law.

As SKY031 said, no-one is forcing these people to drive like idiots - they are making that decision by themselves.

Any half decent driver can avoid losing traction on a wet road. Most of the idiots who do lose traction on a wet road can only do on a wet road.

I think that people are getting way too touchy when it comes to articles in regards to "hooning" etc.

As I stated in the first post, for some time I've been thinking about starting a thread where I can stick all the graphic images in my local paper that I'm faced with on a weekly basis, which are caused by speeding (or similar).

I don't see a problem with attempting to create awareness.

Most of the fatalities (and accidents causing serious injury) which occur in this area are swept under the blanket, and not reported in general news.

Quite honestly, I'd rather offend a handful of people if it means that one or two more people realise how fragile human life is, and how easilly it can be taken away while driving a vehicle.

If fatal mva's are brushed under the carpet, isn't that detracting from the persons life?

Families and friends of deceased/disfigured accident victims should take solace in the fact that if someone can learn from someone else's mistakes, the deaths/injuries that their friends/relatives have suffered can help educate others on the dangers, and maybe save them from suffering the same fate.

Further to 123456's comments, burnouts are just as bad as speeding.

When tyres heat up, they heat up the asphalt underneath them.

When asphalt gets hot, it gets tacky, and when there's a tyre spinning on top of hot asphalt, it has a tendancy to remove layers from the road surface.

This in turn makes the road surface unsafe for all road users.

Apart from the damage caused to the roads, when a large amount of smoke is seen coming from industrial areas, people call the firies.

I'm sure you wouldn't be impressed if your house burned down because there was no appliance available to attend because they're all off in the middle of woop woop responding to a "sighting of smoke" call out.

ive seen lots of stories on the news, reading the paper etc about car crashes but have never fully understood the depth of devistation they cause, until i joined the SES. ive been a member since i was 18 and im about to rack up 5 years service and im quite proud of it.

the about of carnage ive seen out there on the roads is crazy. sky031 has a valid point.

anybody can read the paper, watch the news or listen to the radio but they will never FULLY and TOTALLY understand the devistation, grief etc unless they are personally involved, have a family member or friend involved.

censorship of such mva's is of the highest priority. all photos that are realeased have been carefully selected, edited/modified etc BEFORE it is released to the media and then the public.

'123456' its not the tards in the govenment that are making everything hard, its the idiots out there that wanna do burnouts, drag race, drift etc illegally that get seen by the public and the public put pressure on those 'tards' in the govenment to do something to stop it. so if u do illegal stuff out there and get hit with 'hoon laws' you only have yourself to blame. thats what the track is for. wanna do crazy stuff in your car? save it for track days.

Hey, its fine to disagree...but it will be a cold day in hell when i start recording ppl and dobbing them into the authorities. Fark me, havent ppl got better things to be doing with their time?

If i was that upset, and the opportunity presented itself i would tell them first hand. Dobbing them in without giving them a reasonable opportunity to defend themself or even recall the instance or circumstance is a dog act

Or are we all vigilantes in training. The authorities already have enough resources, and the courts more then enough power. Perhaps i should be deputised so i too can take to the streets with my own personal agenda. If you perhaps happen to catch a mistake of your own are you going to give it to the other driver to help with police and insurance enquiries?

Im all for driving sensibly on the street, but the day you start worryign about what other ppl are doing is the day you forget / neglect what you should be doing.

And the one that ran my g/f's mum off the road in Gippsland and didnt stop! Fortunately for her she wasnt badly injured and knew the logging company so after a few irrate phone calls, things will be happening.

Some interesting (but concerning) points Roy, let me address a few.

There's a name for that, it's called road rage.

The authorities already have enough resources, and the courts more then enough power.

Numbers of Police aren't relative to the head(s) of population.

If the authorities had enough resources, there wouldn't be so many dangerous drivers (and dangerous vehicles) on the road.

(I say "Police", because I've never seen VicRoads targeting passenger vehicles, only trucks.)

EG: In Victoria you can drive a 40 year old car which hasn't had a roadworthy since it came out of the showroom, even if it's held together solely by rust.

90% of driving skill is "worrying about what other people are doing".

It's the people who don't worry about what other people are doing who are a constant danger to those around them.

The lack of attention to the task at hand which most drivers display is frustratingly ridiculous, and plain dangerous.

blackrex and saff have given perfect examples of the types of actions I'm refering to.

The law says we are not allowed to carry weapons to defend ourselves.

A camera is not a weapon, it is a tool.

I'm sure there would be a lot of people who have been involved in collisions/incidents who wish they had a camera (even a stills camera) on hand, so that they were able to take photos of circumstances/surroundings/signs/road conditions/vehicle damage etc at the time of the event.

If someone is an innocent victim, should they be denied the right to prove their innocence?
