Its a 2000 model RS4 prime edition, with in dash TV/DVD/Navi.... anyone know if you can get the nav to work in Aus?

I love the wheels too, I am really happy that the car looks better than the auction photo. Motor and trans checked out ok. Now I just can't wait to get behind the wheel. :P:Ppost-30601-1164369878.jpg

Looks like mine (see the pics for my username in the gallery)! It will be the second bayside blue one around - though mine is a RS4S.

Nice colour blue, LOVE that :PBJ: ..have to say though i really dont get the woodgrain only on some bits of the steering wheel Why do they only come with that little bit and not a full wheel of woodgrain? :D ...apart from that nice car...good job :P would have set you back a bit and with compliance do you have to get standard mirrors and stuff??? :P

CAnt wait to see it here in WA...can you take me for a drive when it gets here???:)

didnt see the aero mirrors... there is a front bar like yours for sale on ebay.com.au for $680!!! far out!! youre a lucky man, john... GL with the purchase mate.

Cant beat the luxury estate car interior with woodgrain coupled with the sporty package of a stagea and the sensibility and versitility of a wagon... ahhhh.... love it.

Hope compliancing/regency goes okay for you mate.

Hi Kirstie

The mirrors are factory options, to be honest that was one very attractive thing about the car, apart from the colour (of course). It's top of the range, and had 9 factory options!! Price, well ask me at the next run. Wood grain all over the wheel would / could make it too slippery. I like the wood, it's a bit more luxurious, also really wanted leather. We went over budget a bit!! But not too much. It was a real a real toss up between this or a Yellow RS4S, which was fairly stock, (with 85,000km). The colour did it..... yeah really it was the colour. In 3 months of looking it was the only one that I saw apart from an rs4s which was Non-Turbo and couldn't be imported, (had no kit or anything either).

Definately Happy Jan....... :P

Nice car, well done

The mirrors are actually made by Ganador, not a factory option

They are a little bit smaller in the mirror size, but are still electric.

I had a set on my R33 and have just bought a set for my Stagea.

If that is a flip-out TV/Nav thingy then its not the factory one. I have the factory option which is made by Xanavi (they do the tv/navigation systems for all nissans - including current models).

Either way if its a japanese system then the TV will likely only accept ntsc inputs (if it does PAL as well then you have no probs). Others on this forum have managed to connect up a portable digital tv tuner that outputs to ntsc via a connection on the front of the tv unit....maybe you can do something like that?

As far as navigation goes, that will depend on the system used by your unit. The factory Xanavi ones dont work here since the company has no plans to (a) convert them to english and (b) provide australian maps...so thats pretty much a showstopper. I believe some people have removed the internals of the unit and wired in an aussie portable satnav unit to work with the factory screen (including toughscreen capability)...but I dont know how far they got with this...

Good luck with the car - it looks VERY VERY NICE!!!!

Makes me REALLY want a dolphin bodykit (i believe thats the one yours has). :D

    • Everything I found online said never use it because it'll dramatically reduce belt lifespan.  No, but I have seen excessive v-belt tension cause the audible bearing noise from excessive radial load in things like alternators. So don't overdo it. Ideally you set it to manufacturer spec using a proper belt tension guage. I tried the "clicker" type gauges but those cheap things are trash. They read way too low even when you're careful.
    • This is kind of where I've ended up for the most part. It's easier for me, easier for shops that don't have to deal with my weird criteria/picky standards, etc.
    • Will do. Suprised if it's not the starter motor considering it's 30 years old. Will get a volt meter though. Battery is close to new.   Cheers for your help, always appreciated.
    • This almost never happens these days. No. Clean your battery terminals and make sure they are tight. Use sandpaper on a dowel if you have to, to get oxidation off the inside of the terminals, particularly on the -ve. Check the earth cable from battery post to chassis ground and engine ground. Make sure the contact surfaces are clean - including the threads on the bolts that anchor them - because that's where a lot of the contact occurs. Wire wheel on a drill is a good thing for this. Make sure the crimps on those cables are all sound. Assuming none of that causes an improvement: Check the battery voltage after it has been resting for a while. If it's at the lower end of the range, put it on charge for a while, then see if it will crank better.
    • I just checked my belt, it wasn't super loose but I could bend it past 90 degrees a small amount so I tightened it up and for the first time ever my car didn't crank first time, had to crank it again lol. Don't know if that was because I tightened the belt or if it's my starter motor going out (been having slow starts for some time). Coulda also been when I was recording I didn't crank the key properly and it didn't save the recording lol.   Is that a thing if you overtighten a belt it struggles to start?
