Mesh Filters In Rb26 Rocker Covers

just took the baffles - flat plates held in by about 10 screws - out of my rb26 cam covers and found some small filters behind them made from what appears to be steel fly wire.

they went through someone's parts wash and are now filled with rusty crap to the point i don't want to put them back in.

i think they prob work like a mini catch can. can't get new ones, nissan don't have them on ther parts list. if I run a catch can do I need them?

try soaking them in kero or meth spirits,

im not sure the effect of not having them (guessing a fair bit of oil out the breathers)

but if they are blocked you will blow seals and get oil into the combustion chamber, i know this cause i rebuilt my engine and had heaps of blue smoke out the rear, found these to be sludged up from the old farked engine, cleaned them and all good,

can you replace them with stainless steel scourer pad or something alike?

or pillage some from RB25/20 covers?
