Recommended Posts

Just thought i'd post up some piccies from todays little festival out at Fuji Speedway.. Was quite a fun day, though there was intermittent rain, but it seemed to make the driving action more fun.. Lots of kool things to see and do, though im definitely looking forward to the Nismo festival next Sunday!

Who knew the luxobarge Soarer could be made into a JGTC car.

I guess they didn't have much of a choice since that's Toyota's closest thing to a sports coupe nowadays.

Toyota maybe the most profitable auto manufacturer in the world but they have lost their soul when it comes to performance cars. Even with their foray into F1, there has been little to show for it when it comes to their road cars.

At least Nissan have the new GTR and 350Z, Subaru and Mitsubishi have their Evo/STi, Mazda have their RX8 and even Honda have the HSC/Dualnote prototypes.

On the other hand, Toyota has nothing.

On the other hand, Toyota has nothing.

Maybe that might be why...

    • I thought about ditching it but I was worried my bonnet would sound like a 90's Swift GTi sub-filled boot.
    • Have you found that you have to tighten your alternator belt once in a while? Mine has started to squeal again after the mechanic tightened it roughly a year ago and the engine starts up slow if I don't start it every day (think the starter motor is going out). It used to be if I don't drive it once a week I'd get a quick squeal on the belt but now it's every day or every other day. I might make a post of the start up sound.
    • I spent the entire of the long weekend going through my garage and I'm now, after 3.5yrs in this house, able to fit a car in. The garage is quite long and the back half has a high enough ceiling for a 2 post lift but it's going to just take too much space and I don't think I'd be able to get around the car if it was in the air. So, in comes the quick lift. It looks perfect. High enough to do most things, I reckon even getting a gearbox out would be doable.  Does anybody here have one? They're fairly cheap (~$3k) considering...  https://www.dtmtrading.com.au/product/quick-lift-portable-vehicle-hoist-3500-kg-worksafe-approved/ I'm also a bit of a non risk taker so I'd probably still use stands when under!
    • Well now we all see it! I did the same. Then cut it out. Then melted half of it. Then discarded it entirely. So... you're in good company.
    • I just replaced the god awful, sagging, crunchy bonnet insulation. It's something nobody but I see but it's been at me for a while.
