Has anyone had a transfer case rebuilt, if so who by, how much and were you happy?

I don't need anything tricky done to it, just put back together with the right clearances, new clutch plates if needed etc etc

Ive heard RACEPACE have some secret trick for them for track cars - ask R31Nismoid about that, he knows more

How much have they quoted to fix it Duncan? Ill take a guess: Not cheap....around $1300 inc new parts?

Im pretty sure that cost is around the mark.

They fit the transfer case with additional clutch packs to send more drive to the front.

from looking at the pictures.....harder than a bottom end

I'm sure the racepace mods are the best option, but I don't need the extra clutch packs really, just someone locally who knows how to put em together.

I guess no-one has even done this locally?

Award Gearbox and Diff at Rydalmere, Croydon use them for most of their gearbox/diff work....give them a call....they did our OS Giken gearbox for us and did a stellar job.

P.S. speak to Terry

i'm assuming you've asked the usual suspects what they do/who they use. powerplay, UAS, Nathan etc. I would start there if not. Sadly it's not something people comonly attend to.

Thanks Paul I'll give them a call. Did you have your xfer case done as well or just the box?

Yeah Richard, have tried those guys and JJ as well, no-one was rebuilt a transfer case I guess they are pretty well designed peices of gear.

This one I need to sort out we managed to burn out at targa a couple of years ago, heaps and heaps of front torque while on a 50klm stage where it was snowing

duncan i have done several transfer case builds. not that hard . give me a call . greg

Hi ;)

Can i ask the approx cost for it?

Its good to know what it will cost when it breaks....

Cheers :)

we usually find they dont break but burn the clutchs out . two of the transfers 1 r33 an 1 r34 were at some stage put on a two wheel drive dyno which fried the clutchs . no unlike an auto.

Ok thanks :P

Give him a call Steve. 95211388. His prices are very reasonable. He did my manual conversion.

Will do

Duncan,

Give me a call and I'll put you in contact with the same guy who built John White's Transfer cases for the Targa Tas N1.

He knows what he's doing and said that he and John both didn't like the amount of slip the STD Transfer Case has and he was able to modify the clutch basket to give it better and "surer" drive to the front wheels.

Honestly you're best of sending it to him and asking for a "John White Special" hahaha and the best part is he said he has all the parts he needs.

thanks Tosh remind me when I pick up the volvo, I'll give them a bell too

but I don't really need to modify the transfer case, just rebuild it. The attessa controller gives me more than enough front torque even on the standard case :glare:
