Above say only VE's used at the moment are for undercover...anyway, last night I was at the international airport and there was cops there (with a marked VE) with the handheld trying to ping people coming into the drop off bit, speed limit being around 15 or 20kmh? I didn't see anyone get done either in the hr or so I was there.

haha i was there last night, didnt see em though, was about 12:30 though i guess, acidentally swung the back end out leaving cos there was a wet patch from sprinklers :P

All wang no stang. Who cares about Sergent Dolittle. Im sure he likes chasing down little kids for the media. Theyll be real stoked to be on the front cover of the news paper. Wankers. How abotu catching drug dealers and helping society>? Nar probably already on teh dealers payroll. FKRS. So you you dont like Pod filters ay>? how about crack heads? there are more crack heads than pod filters but who the f*k is counting?

Theres intelligence hard to argue with.

Besides I think the people who worry most about cop cars etc.. and whether they are in combi vans or ve's is the ones who drive like mad men.

though it does blow if your only a few km's over and just simply forgot the speed limit but if your going that fast to lose your licence in the middle of the public then well. You get what you ask for, and give the rest of us import owners a bad name.

I work in east perth and go to the BP on East Parade for smoke each day, this just happens to b where all the cops cars come to fill up there cars.

A trick i have seen pretty often on un marked cars is they will have a couple "coffee chill" or "96fm rocks my socks" stickers on the back window then on the parcel shelf to hide the black box with the red and blue light in it i have seen fluffy toys and stuff or a construction helmet restin ontop to hide the lights. sneaky bastards!

mike

Seen a un marked blue Commie with a spiderman doll with sticky hands and feet above the black box in the rear, as well as drive safe and Diver Below sticker on the back window,

See him a bit on GF FWY

Mike

some of the newer plain cars have the antenna's on the rear parcel shelf.. thats what the construction hat is there to hide. :)

BTW - love the avatar big col!

was thinking the exact same thing hahaha i want to do it now too

Yeh thay had left by the time I left, which was around 10:30-11ish

Saw some cops at Giant Nissan today getting out of an unmarket new Camry..

Isnt it illegal to have those sticky plush dolls on your car windows? tsk tsk :P

Yeah I had a cop come in with his personal car to trade - it didnt have a rego sticker on it. >_< nauti nauti

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm pretty sure you'll also find all police and other government vehicles have 6 rego stickers (i.e. June rego expiry) something to do with the governments love of order and being able to keep track of budgets etc.

2 cops were seen at a northern suburbs import dealer a couple of days ago checking a s1 r33 gtst front bar to see if their undercover rader and whatever else there trying to hide under there would fit

just a heads up

    • Update: Tunehouse looked into the problem and identified a wiring issue between the camera unit and the connector. They managed to get it working , but did warn me at some point it will stop working again. From their perspective it is unserviceable and will need replacement. They did some research and found that the new replacement camera would be Approx $1400 supply only (their fitting cost would be $190) . They did provide the part number (28442-JL05B) and a quick google of the part number shows that these are rather expensive brand new (seemingly no longer in manufacture) for the places that still have them in stock, with the used option potentially presenting  the same issue down the track at some unknown point. They are happy for me to supply the part so that they can fit it. Decisions, decisions... I can definitely recommend Tunehouse (thankyou Vee37!). Cost for the diagnosis was as quoted  ($190) , car was ready on time and communication was top notch. Their workshop is super clean and modern, and there was plenty of car candy parked out the front on the day I went.   Would definitely go back.
    • to fix the voltage drop issue I swapped out the old 150amp alternator which turns out is a brand known for having issues and replaced it with the black 180amp alternator beside it
    • For anyone interested, the Way Back Machine has that Japanese website archived with pictures, etc: https://web.archive.org/web/20051023225805fw_/http://www.a31cefiro.com/air_con.htm "Simply swapping the wiring of the harness will not allow it to function properly. For the outdoor air sensor and sunlight sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN1-11 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. For the indoor air sensor, disconnect the wiring connected to CN2-3 of the air conditioning harness from the harness and connect the sensor side wiring to earth. The connector PIN numbers listed here are the genuine A31 PIN numbers. To avoid incorrect wiring, check with a tester before wiring. Also, disconnect the wiring in a location close to the sensor. The disconnected harness side wiring will not be used, so be sure to insulate it." Wish someone sold a conversion harness to just plug-and-play a Kouki 180sx digital climate control into C33/A31. I'm decent with wiring but feeling kinda lazy about taking this on. Edit: Did some more digging and found a helpful Minkara blog post about the conversion as well: https://minkara.carview.co.jp/userid/1831116/car/1360568/2284209/note.aspx "After installation is complete or the battery is replaced, you need to go into self-diagnosis mode and set the internal air recirculation. The way to do it is to "hold OFF with the key on for more than 5 seconds, set the number to 5, then press 卍→C." ↑↑↑It probably won't make sense unless you actually try it (・∀・)." Lol wtf
