Just got this latest email from Aaron, so here's the deal:

Hi,

Aaron here.

Many of you know I race V8 Supercars in the Development Series.

It's never easy running at a top level sport as a true "privateer", however this year has been tough. Tough enough that our operation is in danger of collapse for the 07 season.

Set backs this year included a dispute over a race car that didn't go our way, eventually having to purchase another car.

A blown engine 7 weeks ago that has a repair bill of $79.000.00.

I always find sponsorship to run the operation, but at this late stage of the year we need all the help we can get.

December 20 I have booked Oran Park Grand Prix Track, it's the only date left.

I am asking if you are interested to join us at the track to assist our V8 Team.

Activities include:

Open track laps with instruction available if you choose.

Passengers will be able to take "hot laps" in your cars. Max 4 rides @ $55.00 each

Rides available in our V8 Supercar @ $220.00 per person. ( 1 x out lap - 1 flying lap of the GP track.)

Drive a Formula Ford @ $220.00 for 4 laps.

$110.00 buys a ticket into a 5 man squad to race against another 5 man squad in a pit stop driver change event of 15 laps in our school V8 Training cars.

Lunch is included for everyone.

Cost per driver is $275.00

A total package purchase including entry, V8 ride, Formula Ford drive and driving in the pit stop race is $660.00

Call for further details.

Booking form is attached.

Regards

Turning dreamers into drivers.

Perhaps some of the vic guys may be keen on this if you are coming down for the wakefield day. Yes it's expensive, but I think it's still good value for a GP day. and if we get enough people Aaron I'm sure would look after us.

If you are interested contact Aaron direct.

i should mention $220 to be able to drive a formula ford on the GP track is pretty good going. $55 per lap and if you were running a car yourself it could end up costing close to that. $110 for a seat in the V8 race is pretty sweet too. should be fun to belt some buckets around against your mates!

also the $660 for, entry, V8 ride, FF drive and race works out to be $815 value for $660 cost.

I was just logging on to post this up but some one beat me to it :P:):)

Should be a great day I have emailed Aaron to find out about track time etc and apparently its all day apart from the 15 lap 5 man team event. I have emailed a price request too to clarify the cost for us L2s holders who want to race our own cars all day if tis cool enough. Will post up the info when confirmed.

what's with the massive font??

cost will be $275, doesn't matter if you have an L2S or not. Yes you can run as many laps as your car and time permits. there are no 'groups' or 'sesions' so it's just run as much as you feel comfortable with.

Duncan, usually he has a little race at the end of the day. Anyone wishing to do an OLT will have that counted. BUT I believe he charges extra for that. Best to give him a buzz and see what he wants to do. He may in this case let you do it in the holden race if you wanted, or he may still run the usual 5 or 10 lap race in your own car.

Yeah dont know my PC seemed to be going spastic a while ago its reset and I can get little font again.

No can do sorry, I already have a customer event and cant get out of it.

As a club we need to make sure we support Aaron. He constituted about 1/2 the drive day's this year, and if he has to fold, our track time gets folded in half as well.

In addition these days are so much more fun then any other drive day you can do. Great supervision, open format and no idiots. "Safe and Fun" the way it should be. All the fruit loops who like to street race, save your speeding fines and court costs, just turn up to one of these babies and you will never look back!

can the next person who speaks to aaron confirm that he will be doing an OLT at the end of the day?

Duncan,

I think the cost is normally $300-$400 on top of the drive day, you should call him to see what he can do.

hmm if we were going to support Aaron surely we would be telling him to stop wasting his money running mid field in the taxi support category.....I wish him all the best in that but its a great way to blow your racing budget.

Anyway, Kel and I will be in if the car is going....won't be able to confirm until closer to the date :ninja:

Agreed!!!

I've booked myself a spot for this one.

lol, i agree 100%. we dont want to get carried away with drying our tears. aaron is a top guy. and runs top track days. but he is not alone. like probably 90% of motorsport entrants I know he has more bills than he has $$$ to pay them. I guess it's just his bills are a little larger than most with the cost of V8SC.

anyway, his days are expensive, but are still quite good value for money as they are generally not very packed. Last time I didn't get cranking until after 11:00am and still did well over 100 laps in my friends white Alfa until they literally kicked me off the track at sundown.

so if you want fun on the track, this is the time and place to do it.

and yes, $79K on an engine is crazy money. especially when $79K at larry perkins would only buy you basic engine, for the really gun motor I beleive it's around double that. BUT on the flipside V8SC does get great exposure for sponsors. Plenty of crowds watching, and plenty of TV coverage to boot.

did anyone end up going?

I ended up heading out there and Caz went down too we had a run in Aarons car and also had some mini races in the VK V8 training cars which was awesome. There was one skyline there an R32 GTR cant remember the guys name though pretty much had the track to himself.

All in all a top day.
