The fact you can leave your car running with no body in it is why they don't like it! BUT in saying that there is soooooooo many people with one(including me) just gotta be thoughtful when around the cops and if you get pulled over just to turn oyur car off straight away and not let the timer work! Oh and might pay to put it in a spot where you can't see it too easy(not like me :D )!

it's a valid point that people don't want a car running when somebody's not in it, but what are the legalities of a turbo timer like mine:

- the turbo timer will not activate when turning the car off if the car is in gear

- when its running in TT mode, the car will turn off if the gearstick is moved, brake pedal pushed, bonnet opened, etc.

i think the fact that it keeps the ignition running after taking the keys out...i.e. fuel pump still is pupming and etc etc...that in the event of an accident the car will/may still be running which could be potentially dangerous is another point which they base it on.

Yeah, its got to do with ADR's requirement for cars post-1972 to all have anti theft locks & this requires that the only time an engine should be running is when the ignition lock is in the ON position. This basically means only Pete's '66 Prince Skyline can legally have a TT

I think that the unit itself should not be illegal. just the use of the function tied in with the alarm system. so if u use it and ur caught then you get defected, not they see its in your car then assume that its used illegally. What about some sort of slow heat dissapation fan system for turbos. no such thing exists.

Correct section

Turbo timers are not to be fitted to vehicles manufactured on or after 1 January 1972 (ADR 25 Anti-

Theft Locks). ADR 25 requires that the normal function of the engine only occurs when the ignition

lock is in the engine on position.

and is a turbo timer really needed anyway? think of when you pull up to stop you are normally slowing down anyway so that give the turbo time to cool down. Look at most truck companies who used to have them; the have all taken them off and found they saved with one company just over 1million dollars by just idling slowly then turning the engine off rather than let the turbo timer run.

We can also looked what happened to Booya (magna) his car caught fire but the engine didnt turn off straight away as the turbo timer was on and kept the fuel pump working and putting more fuel on the fire

I used to have one now i dont bother i just idle my car slowly for the last k or so b4 i stop

what if u need to stop in a hurry, or you thrash your car to your destination, etc etc. dont worry about slowing down before you get to the destination, when you get tehre just sit in your car for 120 seconds, look at your watch, and then switch off the car. if you get places on time you would only be 2 minutes late. lol

plus turbo timers work a bit stupidly dont they, they add the time up but then when youre in cool down mode they just subtract individual seconds off in seconds. if you thrash your car and its reading 6 minutes on the turbo timer for when you stop, then you slowly pullup and it says 5 and a half minutes, what the hell calculations does that little plastic piece of shit do calculate that time. its saying that heating up time = cooling down time. thats not right.

crap first double post...

in addition to my argument: surely when the turbo cools down it cools down to a sort of stagnant temperature where its at an acceptable level so you can just switch off your car. for instance, driving absolutely normally to a destination it should read 0 minutes on the turbo timer if you dont have problems with your car when you stop. I'd like to hear from the microelectronic engineers and the people who write the software on how theyve put these inexpensive-expensive little things together which everyone who gets a turbo charged vehicle automatically thinks they have to aquire.

    • Update time!  The JZX110 had some maintenance needing to be done, so a lot of the seals with replaced to fix some oil leaks. Also used this opportunity to whack on a front mount that I'd bought some time ago.  I also finally got the rear lip painted and fitted.  I then got the exhaust done. It's just a catback for now. Custom made 3" stainless with a turn down. I could have a tip coming out, but it will require cutting the rear lip and possibly the bumper itself. So far I do like and it's made the car a little more zippy.  Close out with some nice pictures of the cars and a sneak peek of what's next.

    • Just something I found searching for more info on Emotion R, apparently the ECR33 Skyline GTS25t was either originally black, or there were two of them, the black one being the original demo car, then building a white one which was part of the 1997-onwards (to at least 2008!) Cockpit Tatebayashi Tokyo Auto Salon booth demo cars. It appears that Emotion R closed down in 2008 and was declared bankrupt in 2010: http://bank-db.com/hasan/208365.
