How dark have you guys got your windows tinted? I went to get a quote the other day and the guy offered to do legal (35% i assume) on the front windows, and overlegal (??%) on the rear and the quarter windows. Would having mismatched tint look wierd though? how dark is 35%?

He would have quoted 35% all round, they dont tint the front windows dude.

35% is not that dark, i have around 25-30 and it's not dark.

I would go more like 20%, at least on the rear and rear quarters

I have had 5% before all round, that was cool, couldnt see in at all, but the problem was it was hard to see out aswell :P

solar tint = 20% all round , $300 . - ilegal tint though , you shouldnt have any trouble with it , as long as your not doing anything stupid . see my display pic , quaters are dark as anything . you could get 10% for $30 more , but you wouldnt need it , 20 is dark enough

yep 20% FTW... ive had 35%, 20% and 5% ona few cars now and 20% was by far the best. It was dark enough to look good and hide you from other people but still allowed you to see out of the car with no worries

A mate of mine has 4% tint on his VL... most impracticale way to drive a car that you've ever seen. He's even got 35% on his windscreen, so to answer you question; 35% is not dark at all

35% is not that dark, but it has advantages

- its legal, no hassles, no worries when the cops pull you over at night

- it is dark, just not as dark as the illegal tint. you are blocking 65% of the light afterall

- has awesome UV protection, just as good as the darker tints

- comes with warranty. i know when i got mine if i wanted darker than legal it came with no warranty and no reciept. this way its all good and within the law

my opinion: go 35% darkest legal :P

^ lol @ anyone who really cares about their tint being legal when they drive a skyline, I'm sure there’s plenty of other parts on the car they'd be more concerned about the cops defecting.

15% Tint FTW

PS: Yes 35% tint is legal, but the guy who did mine said he’d do any tint on an import as there’s a loop hole supposedly & you can tell the cop that the car was imported & complied in that dark tint.

PPS: If you get pulled over by a cop, wind both windows all the way down before he gets to your car :P

there's no loophole..

if its illegal then the car is unroadworthy and technically the cops can make you remove it and get a rwc before hitting the streets again

an aftermarket bov can be removed easily

a pod can be taken off with 1 screwdriver

illegal tint has to be booked back into the shop to be taken off and replaced. cost? more than the original i'm guessing... worth it? personally i think not...

my mates imported an r34 and the rear quarters and rear window are black, no tint

this is wat somebody told me..apparently that the law for 35% legal tint came in, in 1994 so if ur car was made before then its ok and if ur cars imported its ok because it came like that from factory

i dont know if this is true, it may be wrong....just letting u guys know wat i heard

Like i said before, i had 5% on my R33.

Yes i got defected for it, had to remove it.

I passed vicroads inspection by only removing the side window tint, they didnt care about rear quarters or rear.

But yeah, def can be defected for it

hmm, that actually makes sense becasue the rear quarters and the back window on my 32 are dark as anything (existing tint), and i've been pulled over plenty of times and i've never had a problem, however my side windows have no tint at all, i'm concidereing getting them done. sounds like 20% is the way too go

Hope the difference isn't too much though :),

lol, i like your solution :)

cheers

You guys are considered lucky already, to be able have to 35% tint..... I live in a state (SA) :D:) where there are too many old people driving..... If I'm not mistaken, 70% tint is the lowest tint you can have. How bout that?! :) I bought my car from Victoria and I was asked to take the tints off during vehicle inspection prior to registration, despite the fact that it was legal in Vic.

    • It's actually really good advice. And I do try to do it. I actually have 2x 3KG dumbbells that sit right beside where I sit. And I look at them a lot. Use them a little. But I'm trying to do more with it. At the moment I'm going through a heap of weight loss too which will help. I cracked into the 85kg mark this week. My weight used to have me sit consistently between 93 to 95KG! That definitely doesn't help. I've also got POTS, which flared up after I got slapped with COVID a few weeks back, and POTS really smashes fatigue and stuff into you, and has a thing even called "excercise fatigue". Basically even the minorest "excercise" (walking from the garage to the house) causes fatigue! And one of the treatments (Other than a med I'm on) is also... Excercise... Ha ha ha So it's why I'm trying to play the game of "might as well" and trying to push through things. For ADHD specifically, the general recommendation is "excercise". When you dig deep into it though, while any excercise is good, the best type is "explosive" excercise. So training for a sport like squash, tennis, even soccer. Things where you need to get the whole body able to "explode" into a different direction change. They've found with explosive sports, (I can't think of the proper term they have for it) that it actually makes the brain grow and become bigger in specific areas. The areas where ADHD causes those parts of the brain to be smaller than normal! But definitely, trying to push myself, and break those bounds mate, and get healthier!
    • Be more active mate.. , not taking the piss ❤️, your long term health will love you for it I would think something like a kettle bell or 2 laying around in areas you go past during the day would be awesome for ADHD.... "Oh look, a kettlebell", and exercise helps your brain health as well My mates son was a bit of a problem child, diagnosed wirh ADHD, and some other things that had his brain occasionally doing loops, until we got him into a training program, the difference after he started training was amazing, he had more focus, and his fitness levels exploded, it is like he is a totally different kid to be around Brain chemistry something something Stay fit stay strong mate

    • Read the ECU for fault codes or have someone else do it. A faulty coolant temperature sender is usually listed in ECUs. If the sensor itself is not busted it can also be a bad ground connection. Or in a really unlucky case, damaged wiring.
