3rd. The Dyno operator did the run in 3rd for a reason unknown to me...

I mean I'm not overly experienced with dyno's as we don't use them but I was under the impression dyno runs were meant to be performed in a 1:1 gear ratio... hence 5th in an R34 GTR

i was hoping to see some good lookin girls when i walked into autosalon but the first thing i saw was tosh's head! hahahahahaa. j/k - was good to bump into ya mate!

i liked it. few new things i've never seen before ie. lan games, 3on3 bball, beach volleyball etc. was good.

calibre of cars were good also. nice to see some hyper honda's there with k20 and b18 engine conversions.

bel garage was impressive ....... evo 9 circuit battle car is awesome - well done guys.

lots of bnr34's around which is what i like to see - is it me or are they everywhere now? :) was crossing the road going home the other night and a nice white one, lowered, stock looking went straight by me - crazy.

eh? it was a public show wasn't it? jeebuz.

Funny enough it was exactly as NISMO quoted in their specs on the car, 500ps, what we expected.

What you need to remember is the Z-tune was not built for an outright power figure & still meets all emissions requirements.

We only put it on the dyno at the owners request to get a before & after reading.

The torque figure was what we were interested in & that was pretty impressive.

There were some very high power figures produced throughout the day, congrats to the owners.

Was great to see everybody that came to say hello & thanks to everyone for their help at the end of the day.

Couldn't have done it without you.

My head is still thumping BOOM, BOOM, BOOM.

Cheers

Jo

haha I was looking at that car.. and the alarm went off when I was checking out the dyno sheet.. I ran away.. ahaha

321awkw, 430.5awhp, 1068.1Nm

damn that is nice. 320awkw is a very good figure. possibly even a little bit over the 500ps quoted. nice shaped curve too.

as for the run being in 3rd. the goal is to get as close to a 1:1 ratio as possible (which in a 34 is 5th gear). BUT most dynos in aus are rated only to 200kp/h so the primary concern is picking a gear that will not exceed 200kp/h, secondary concern is picking a gear at 1:1 ratio. The operator may not have been familiar with the 34 gearbox or diff ratios and probably didn't want to have to abort a run due to poor gear choice. I dont know whether or not it makes much (any?) difference. it's no big deal anyway.

nice to see you guys had the car there anyway. :)

    • Does it also misfire equally when revving?   Josh is very correct in what you should do. The coilpack harness wiring loom itself is a known problem due to its age and the number of heat cycles it has gone through. Throwing parts at a vehicle to diagnose the issue isn't a smart or good way to do it. Secondly, you may have a bad coil pack, you pop replacements in, they fix that issue, but messing with the harness breaks it, so the issue persists. So now you think "well it wasn't the coil packs" and have to continue chasing your tail, potentially swapping back in your shit coil packs and returning the good ones (yes, I've seen people do this because 'it wasn't the problem' and they want to save money). And suddenly, you've got two issues with the same symptoms...   Diagnose, don't use the spare parts shotgun.
    • Well the articals keep saying a Q50s (Skyline in Japan) with a new Manual gearbox. I like the talk about the new looks with the round tail lights. I hope they bring back the retro look like they did with the Z
