Look, I successfully use an Apexi SAFCII and an Apexi SITC, running as piggybacks to the ECU, in my automatic 4wd RB25det.

Standard turbo at 12psi pushed 160awkw. I now have a highflow turbo that was just installed last week, and I expect (once tuned) a lazy 200awkw at 1bar without too much of a problem. Off boost economy is fine, on boost it sucks the fuel, obviously.

Has ANYONE run a PowerFc as a Piggyback unit in an auto Skyline? That'd be the way to go, IMO.

If all you disbeleivers care to come check out my car, ill take you for a drive with the stock ECU, then change to the motec (takes about 5 minutes because of the interface i made up to keep the standard harness). I'll defy you to pick ANY difference in gear change. Under full boost ignition is retarded anyway, under cruise there isnt enough torque to damage the box, and line pressure in the box (which is controlled by the AUTO ECU) is alot lower, so the changes arent as harsh anyway.

I second that.

So Paul which is it?

are you coming to sa or going to NSW any time soon?

proof is in the driving, not hear say, or what you have read in some book.

Tell everyone how many auto skylines you have been in in your life!

please dont coment on something that you havent experienced first hand.

as a moderator you shouldnt be influencing people with your wisdom if you know nothing, apart from what you have read.

Im not being harsh im just sick of people arguing with you that its fine and you keep disputing this even tho you have no proof that it doesnt work with a shift kitted auto.

I truly believe the ignition retard is a luxury thing to make the car smoother.

by increasing the shift speed with a shift kit we are by passing this standard design and therfore

bypassing the need for the standard computer.

As far as Mike from MV automatics is concerned the R33 jatco auto is far superior in strength to the vl box, so you tell me the difference!

He has driven my car at near 300 kws and couldnt fault the auto.

but what would he know?

obviously not as much as your pfc book!

Sorry but its the truth.

oh fiddlesticks, i was in nsw about 3 weeks ago sorry.

so because i am a moderator i am not allowed to discuss things and disagree with what someone says? what a load of rubbish. and even if it does drive fine, which it says in my so called book i still dont see how its not making it harsh for the box. but what do i know, like youve said

and its hardly a book, its a self help guide for people asking the same questions over and over. i mean i can delete it if you want and poeple can keep posting the same questions each time, would that be better?

anyhoo we are both set in our ways, your sure it works fine and im sure that its the same as factory as it wont cut timing so lets move on with our lives.

divhunter is the next pfc user to try it on auto and he's in vic so i will have a look at his car. i will be interested to see the map tracer runs from it, ive asked for them a few times off people but never got them. i am more curious to see how as i want to understand how it varies over the manual setup. but no one seems keen to send them to me, so thats cool will see it when he has his pfc working.

Until its totally proven, no way am I puting a Pfc on my auto box.

I cant afford the 3-4k gearbox rebuild (sure perhaps in 5yrs time, but rebuild nonetheless)

dangerman4 - are you seriously suggesting that in 3,4,5yrs time youd be "surprised" if (or dare I say, when) the auto box goes bang?? I dont see how it can withstand your 300kw power figure for years on end without that ign.retard on gear changes.

meh.... Id like to run a Pfc as a piggyback option, but wouldnt know how to wire it up, so I wont :P

how can i show you my map tracer?

i had a look at it 10 min ago while my misses was driving. what would you like to know?

as it changes gears the load axis stays the same it just drops the revs to suit the new gear.

i will happily provide anything you require!

just let me know what you want me to do.

can u get a photo of it ? or plot it onto excel?

not good with excel never tried.

what will a photo tell you?

wont you need video to watch it move around the map?

pm me some more details and i will do it after work.

nah when you are in map tracer

press NEXT again and it will go in ghost trace mode

which keeps the cells highlighted on the screen for you

get a photo of that if you can

you can also press UP to pause the output

i have been real busy.

i will take a pic tomorrow for you and post it up.

As an independant observer, who doesn't own an Auto skyline, paul, do you think that if the timing was retarded during gearchanges it would be fine? wiring the auto"shift signal" to an aux input should be able to do it without too many dramas?

i went the safc 2 and the ITC path too, did alot of research and spoke to alot of people and as much as i wanted to put an fc in it couldn't bring my self to doing it, sure i would have got more power but i didn't want to jeopardise my gear shifts, as thats the only reason i wasn't happy with the car.

yeah, same as me - interesting to see your power output of 230rwkw, that'll be alarmingly equivelant to the approx. 200kw at the 4 wheel figure I expect after the next tune for my awd Stagea. Very similar mods too to the rb25det by the way :P

Was just in Darrens (dangerman4) 4door R33 auto with Pfc, with auto valve body shift kit. :(

For sure, a Pfc in a auto with shift kit, it certainly works. Changes are fine, and with his fatarsed turbo & engine work, it pulls damned well. Loads of power and an auto that is fine for a daily city-traffic driver.

Now it really makes me wonder about my next tune....! Keep with the piggybacks, or replace with Pfc, injectors and definately the MV Auto shift kit (this would be a must with a auto / Pfc combo), spend a 'little' extra and have a beast ofa Stagea - or not. :P

Sweet!

Sweet!

And all on low boost!!

Cheers for the support fella.

And thanks for my first Stagea experience!
