lol... My mum has a magna. I might join them. It'd be way better than joining sau i bet . Atleast i would be fastest on all their track days(if i went in my GTR).

man i just saw this thread!... i was there on monday watching the whole thing from start to end... the skyline wasnt racing the shitty magna.. it started all the way from lane cove road through to hume highway chullora... i finished work and was on my way home.... and there was this tool in a magna numberplate [TAKKOS].. full had an exhaust and he was dying to line up this r33... he would leave it in first and fly past this r33 and overtake him and u know all the usuall bullshit P platers do.. i spoke to the skyline driver we were both laughing at this guy!.. the skyline driver had no license and his on this forum.. he was taking it easy all the way i was right behind both of em in a ute.. we all turned onto hume highway from homebush bay drive and TAKKOS kept trying to pump the skyline.. the skyline obviously couldnt take it nemore.. he ended up tramping it and TAKKOS tramped it behind him.. and then the skyline slowed down TAKKOS kept speeding and he got done.. it wasnt a race it was more like the skyline got annoyed from this dope and just squirted it passed him... i feel sorry for the skyline driver.. he kept shaking his head at TAKKOS and couldnt believe what he was seeing!.. neither could I the magna driver was fkn keen trying to race a skyline...

like i said it wasnt so much as a race it was more like this guys a fool im gna loose him...

ah well.. takkos got what he deserved...

Ugh.. this story is all too familiar.

I had exactly the same thing happen to me with an R34 - Red P plater. He kept blowing off in my window to get me to race on the eastern distributor... until i got the shits and gave it a hefty squirt. Left him for dead cos it was stock as... Very very annoying though.

This quote is relevant I think: "Well, animals are not like people, Mrs. Simpson. Some of them act badly because they've had a hard life, or have been mistreated...but, like people, some of them... are just jerks! Stop that, Mr. Simpson!" [Homer butts the warden repeatedly]

As a general rule, people don't try and wind me up for a race in my car. They must know its slow. :D

But yeah, it is typical. I don't know why, but I am seeing a lot of modified Magnas these days. Today I saw one that was dumped on chromies and a cannon exhaust out the back. It was also running a lot of neg camber on the rear.

What is it about the Magna that's making it so popular for modifying now? I just don't see it. Its not a particularly nice looking car. Its not particularly fast in stock form. I am a bit confused.

i honestly rekon its a "hand me down" thing.. where there parents get a new car and got a shit trade in price for there magnas... there not worth much these days......

the one that "tried" to race the skyline was white dumped on chromes with a fat exhaust.. it sounded like the ugliest thing ive ever heard.. it was loud it hurt the ear drums and what made it worse is that it was auto!..

there was one funny part the what happend though.. when the skyline was on the lights with the magna.. and the skyline tramped it to sorta get away from the fool.. the skyline had one space saver wheel at the back.. so he was spinning alllllll the way and he still left the magna for dead.. it lookd stupid of the magna to even try as he was trying his best to keep up to a wheel spinning skyline...

dopey P plater magna drivers... oh and BTW another P plater killd in picton last night anyone know if it was a "modified" car... if they ban hi performance car to a higher level the government is doing no favour to P platers... u can speed in any car.. u can loose control in any car!.. i rekon a wrx is much safer to drive than a fwd pulsar or a crx or something.... all these Pplaters are getting killed in stock standard lil cars.. its the individuals fault not ALL p platers

where is the unique quality in owning a car which everybody has

Says the guy driving a Commodore. Because those things are rarer than TVRs on the road....

if that was a real race the magna would win as the skyline backed off. so how do you say in the end that the skyline won?

Because he had to back off in order for the Magna to do its loser flyby. He launched it, pulled away, and then decided not to continue flying down the road after proving his point.

I guess he drew the line at the limit of his stupidity by street racing on a space saver, and decided not to follow it up with doing ludicrous speed down the road.

Doesn't your VL-Turbo hektik mobile use engine components from a Skyline?

Correct me if I'm wrong.

I held my breath waiting for a response, and I don't know what happened but all of a sudden I came to with paramedics pulling a breather mask off my face and asking me how many fingers they were holding up.

I told him "15, ironically the same number of years it took Holden to locally produce a 6 cylinder engine that matched the RB30ET's power output with an engine 25% bigger".

james1 - what about around the track, not just in a straight line? Im sure most people here would like to give you a go out there :miner:

its cool to be a keyboard warrior hey!

nice car too - can you post another pic so we can see your plates too?

Don't VL Commodores have an allergic reaction and break out into a horrible, disfiguring rash when exposed to a corner?

Or is that just rust?

Bring it on dude, you name the day and i'll be there. Make sure you drive your car there with street tyres and the 20" chrommies . Mine as you can see is all stock as it left the Nissan factory..

Actually the baby next to it would show you some exhaust pipes but i don't own it anymore and the guy that lawfully owns it doesn't have it either ( was stolen a couple of days ago) otherwise i'll get him to bring it too

LOL at the VL wanka, didnt relise VLs were rare these days since when did holden make that car, looks like its got SA plates on it, so much for being in syd champ, they threw a shell over a skyline drivetrain how does that make it a total holden, why does everyone wanna race skylines, everyone knows they arent a slow car. like a stock magna please thats a joke.I had a knob red p plater in a hi-ace van tryin to race me down the central coast the other day like wtf, he was all over the road, looked like it was about to tip over goin into the round abouts.

On another note, dont ban performance cars, the drivers have to be better educated any one can get hurt in any car. end of rant hahaha.

BTW Wrxhoon that GTR is horn, looks so clean.

Hi there,

First I'd like to say slow down. You seem very passionate about this whole thing, and you also seem to have a personal vendeta against everyone that drives something made in another country that isn't a Magna. Would you consider yourself a "bogan"?

Going on the way you write, you can't speak/write English very well. Your grammar and spelling is ridiculous. If you're still at school, maybe you should request to go back a few years, and if you're no longer in school maybe you should go back.

Here are some examples of where you've gone wrong:

YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT.

You are trying to tell someone that they don't know what they are talking about here. But you are coming off like someone with a mental disabilty. "YOUR" should be replaced with "YOU'RE", as you're trying to say "...WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT".

i am a P-plater and you dont no shit about cars

Don't forget to capitalise those "I"'s now. So disappointing too that you actually do know which "know" to use, yet you used "no" here.

The more I read the less it seems that you are a bogan. Someone that considers themselves that strongly "Australian" should atleast know which "know" to use.

A auto car will thrash your shitty manual skyline rice burner, every third person on the road DRIVES A FREAKING SKYLINE where is the unique quality in owning a car which everybody has, every car i see is a gts. gts-t , there are only a few unique imports which non of you shitheads can afford.

Again, learn to spell and punctuate. You must have alot of trouble getting anything in life.

i seen the race and what you said was all biased bullshit and hey you know what i drive neither car.. if that was a real race the magna would win as the skyline backed off. so how do you say in the end that the skyline won? the skyline driver has a licence by the way, SO FACE IT YOU GOT THRASHED BY A STOCK MAGNA WITH AN EXHAUST...

You "seen the race" did you? That's nice.

Again, you seem to be getting frustrated here. Slow down, take a deep breath. No one understands what you are really saying.

From what I'm reading you are saying that you feel inferior (in general, I'm not talking about cars here. I'm talking about you). It's ok to feel inferior sometimes. But it's best to go back and find the root of the problem, and fix it from there.

Maybe you regret not listening in class when you were at school, or when you are at school?

VL turbo :) vs skyline GTR R34 come and meet me down the creek!! :P

Did you feel better after you posted that line? I sure hope you did. People like you need all the...hmmm...how can I term this so you understand what I'm saying... People like you need all the "ups" in this life that you can get so that you remain almost satisified with yourself, some of the time.

If all of this has gone over your head, please feel free to reply.

haha someone has been done hard by skylines then. Dont hate man...appreciate.

every single line from that whole paragraph is utter garbage. Due to SAU members being intelligent, educated and mature, most wont even bother wasting their time replying to that. Feel free to take this tip on board: Just delete yourself before the mods do and join a internet keyboard warrior forum where you belong.

just regarding people talking about done up magna's, you are probably talking about the magna "VR-X", they are stock from the mitsubishi factory with chrome wheels, and a meaner styled body kit, but there is also people that do them up, but to answer why people are seeing them more and more it's probably the VR-X model magna, they come with engine modifications as well, it's all on wikipedia if your at all interested:) just thought i could clear up a few things:)

    • Jdm DC2R is also nice for a FF car compared to the regular hatches of the time.
    • Now that the break-in period for both clutch and transmission is nearly over I'd like to give some tips before I forget about everything that happened, also for anyone searching up how to do this job in the future: You will need at least 6 ton jack stands at full extension. I would go as far as to say maybe consider 12 ton jack stands because the height of the transmission + the Harbor Freight hydraulic platform-style transmission jack was enough that it was an absolute PITA getting the transmission out from under the car and back in. The top edge of the bellhousing wants to contact the subframe and oil pan and if you're doing this on the floor forget about trying to lift this transmission off the ground and onto a transmission jack from under the car. Also do not try to use a scissor jack transmission lift. You have to rotate the damn thing in-place on the transmission jack which is hard enough with an adjustable platform and a transmission cradle that will mostly keep the transmission from rolling off the jack but on a scissor lift with a tiny non-adjustable platform? Forget it. Use penetrating oil on the driveshaft bolts. I highly recommend getting a thin 6 point combination (box end + open end) wrench for both the rear driveshaft and front driveshaft and a wrench extension. These bolts are on tight with very little space to work with and those two things together made a massive difference. Even a high torque impact wrench is just the wrong tool for the job here and didn't do what I needed it to do. If your starter bolts aren't seized in place for whatever reason you can in fact snake in a 3/8 inch ratchet + 6 point standard chrome socket up in there and "just" remove the bolts for the starter. Or at least I could. It is entirely by feel, you can barely fit it in, you can barely turn the stupid ratchet, but it is possible. Pull the front pipe/downpipe before you attempt to remove the transmission. In theory you don't have to, in practice just do it.  When pulling the transmission on the way out you don't have to undo all the bolts holding the rear driveshaft to the chassis like the center support bearing and the rear tunnel reinforcement bar but putting the transmission back in I highly recommend doing this because it will let you raise the transmission without constantly dealing with the driveshaft interfering in one way or another. I undid the bottom of the engine mount but I honestly don't know that it helped anything. If you do this make sure you put a towel on the back of the valve cover to keep the engine from smashing all the pipes on the firewall. Once the transmission has been pulled back far enough to clear the dowels you need to twist it in place clockwise if you're sitting behind the transmission. This will rotate the starter down towards the ground. The starter bump seems like it might clear if you twist the transmission the other way but it definitely won't. I have scraped the shit out of my transmission tunnel trying so learn from my mistake. You will need a center punch and an appropriate size drill bit and screw to pull the rear main seal. Then use vice grips and preferably a slide hammer attachment for those vice grips to yank the seal out. Do not let the drill or screw contact any part of the crank and clean the engine carefully after removing the seal to avoid getting metal fragments into the engine. I used a Slide Hammer and Bearing Puller Set, 5 Piece from Harbor Freight to pull the old pilot bearing. The "wet paper towel" trick sucked and just got dirty clutch water everywhere. Buy the tool or borrow it from a friend and save yourself the pain. It comes right out. Mine was very worn compared to the new one and it was starting to show cracks. Soak it in engine oil for a day in case yours has lost all of the oil to the plastic bag it comes in. You may be tempted to get the Nismo aftermarket pilot bearing but local mechanics have told me that they fail prematurely and if they do fail they do far more damage than a failed OEM pilot bushing. I mentioned this before but the Super Coppermix Twin clutch friction disks are in fact directional. The subtle coning of the fingers in both cases should be facing towards the center of the hub. So the coning on the rearmost disk closest to the pressure plate should go towards the engine, and the one closest to the flywheel should be flipped the other way. Otherwise when you torque down the pressure plate it will be warped and if you attempt to drive it like this it will make a very nasty grinding noise. Also, there is in fact an orientation to the washers for the pressure plate if you don't want to damage the anodizing. Rounded side of the washer faces the pressure plate. The flat side faces the bolt head. Pulling the transmission from the transfer case you need to be extremely careful with the shift cover plate. This part is discontinued. Try your best to avoid damaging the mating surfaces or breaking the pry points. I used a dead blow rubber hammer after removing the bolts to smack it sideways to slide it off the RTV the previous mechanic applied. I recommend using gasket dressing on the OEM paper gasket to try and keep the ATF from leaking out of that surface which seems to be a perpetual problem. Undoing the shifter rod end is an absolute PITA. Get a set of roll pin punches. Those are mandatory for this. Also I strongly, strongly recommend getting a palm nailer that will fit your roll pin punch. Also, put a clean (emphasis on clean) towel wrapped around the back end of the roll pin to keep it from shooting into the transfer case so you can spend a good hour or two with a magnet on a stick getting it out. Do not damage the shifter rod end either because those are discontinued as well. Do not use aftermarket flywheel bolts. Or if you do, make sure they are exactly the same dimensions as OEM before you go to install them. I have seen people mention that they got the wrong bolts and it meant having to do the job again. High torque impact wrench makes removal easy. I used some combination of a pry bar and flathead screwdriver to keep the flywheel from turning but consider just buying a proper flywheel lock instead. Just buy the OS Giken clutch alignment tool from RHDJapan. I hated the plastic alignment tool and you will never be confident this thing will work as intended. Don't forget to install the Nismo provided clutch fork boot. Otherwise it will make unearthly noises when you press the clutch pedal as it says on the little installation sheet in Japanese. Also, on both initial disassembly and assembly you must follow torque sequence for the pressure plate bolts. For some reason the Nismo directions tell you to put in the smaller 3 bolts last. I would not do this. Fully insert and thread those bolts to the end first, then tighten the other larger pressure plate bolts according to torque sequence. Then at the end you can also torque these 3 smaller bolts. Doing it the other way can cause these bolts to bind and the whole thing won't fit as it should. Hope this helps someone out there.
