Hey guys,

With our current weekly dinners; would a weekly, or even bi-weekly poker night be too much of a burden on everyone's social calendar?

I had the idea from a couple members discussing how QLD pubs are actually holding state poker tourneys now for a minimal entry fee, or none at all. I figured this would be excellent for a few folks interested in the game, to learn or to be schooled in the art of outguessing your opponent.

There's a couple options open to either compete as a club team at the pubs, a private game in a licensed bar, or simply just house party it up with dvds, pool tables, and other stuff on offer as well.

So this post is basically gathering interest as to who would be up for a games night, and any folks offering the use of their premises (I know Mushroom and MrBenno have stated several times they have very awesome houses).

Thoughts? Comments?

Go !

Edit: I appear to have noobed the poll, just reply if you'd like to do the tourney option

Skylines Rock...

thanks for the contribution

to the rest of you, it looks like we have a table of people interested, so we'll have some more chats over tuesday night dinners and see what we can organise

stay tuned, and keep that interest coming

I already play in a weekly tournament which has free entry. These are sponsored by Wild the sphincter of the universe and are a great night. Blinds go up every 15 minutes so it isn't too late a night. Depending on the venue, some prizes are on offer for the top 3 players. My venue, Club Bunya, has about 50 players on a Monday night.

this sounds cool too

i'm personally keen on the home venue idea so we can do stuff like get completely trashed and make it an all nighter thing, like fridays or something

How many dollars are we talking here, or is it just friendly games.

reasonably friendly

5 dollar buyin gets you $1000 of chips, that can last you anywhere from an hour to several days (if you even lose at all)

nice and cheap as long as you aren't a hideously sore loser, but it's designed to stop people from doing silly stuff like betting the lot on a bluff, etc, it makes people play properly

Kirsty and I would be keen. Would have to be a Friday or Saturday though. Will need some warning in advance to get someone to mind our kids.

    • I have a 2008 Skyline 370gt with about 160,000 km on the clock currently. A while ago, I noticed the temp gauge would start climbing but it comes down when I give it some throttle. I took it into the shops. The technicians comments are transcripted below. Reported they couldn't find anything wrong with the vehicle mechanically and they pressure tested the cooling system. Funnily enough, the technician commented that the temperature dropped back down when the car is stationary but this is when I'd notice the temp gauge to be climbing. Just wondering if anyone else experienced anything similar to enlighten me? Cos at the onset, the temps were going up one tick and then comes back down when I step on it. Now, the temps are climbing all the way to the top of the gauge, and it's making me very nervous lol. It also doesn't come down to the neutral position anymore. PS I do have a small exhaust leak near the drivers side caused by when I got f**ked by a really steep driveway at a mall I never visited before. Not sure if this would affect the sensor. Technician comments: Check and verify Fan/Cooling system - ALL OK max 106*C and fans operating at 100% Cools down right away. Checked Fan Operation - 55%@101*C, 85% @ 104*C and 100% @ 105*C Vehicle did not exceed these temperatures with max load. Temperature recovered back to 99*C after fan operation while vehicle Stationary.
    • It really depends on your setup. Mine is 'accidently' more suited to revving higher. bigger cams, turbo etc. Plus my super long first takes donkey years to come onto boost, so if it will move my power band to the right, maybe i'll pass on this. i have a G45-1500 going on there soon which I suspect might make it more of a fat pig.
    • Yeah good call, I will endeavour to tuck that down when I rewrap the looms it’s pushed up by
    • Good work. I will say, this line circled however, will potentially pool with oil, as it's going from high, to low, to high, before heading downwards.
    • Yeah, thumbsup from me. The distant shot of the bay just looks same-same as before.
