Leeman
im looking at getting my car chipped and tuned by my mechanic, i had a good look through sau about the power fc but i am unsure what would be better? i know the chip and laptop tune is cheaper, but would i benefit more from the power fc? are they hard to use or to find a good mechanic to tune one? im hoping one of u guys who use the power fc can help me out! heslo
I'd go with the PFC buddy, easy to tune (Shaun at boostworx is a good place to start) and I'd say would give you more power and options over a standard piggyback ECU Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/145309-power-fc-or-piggy-back/#findComment-2715422 Share on other sites
mr_rbman
might have to find a second hand power fc as i believe they are dis-continuing them if i'm not mistaken??? personally i would go the power fc! heslo
Yeah, they've discontinued the PFC's for the RB25's. Not sure on the RB25 NEO but I'm almost 100% that they use the same PFC as a R33 RB25. You can still pick them up but I wouldn't leave it too long Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/145309-power-fc-or-piggy-back/#findComment-2715594 Share on other sites
Mr Sniper911
They have discontinued the Power FC for some models...... but the R34 is a different part number to the R33 Apexi Power FC 414-AN012 Nissan Skyline ECR33 RB25DET No longer in Production Apexi Power FC 414-AN008 Nissan Skyline ER34 RB25DET No Longer in Production Otherwise if you can pick up an PFC they are great!! Deluxe
Yeh definatly another vote for the FC here!, and there are many many people that can tune them............ just you need to find the right one that tunes them well! As Heslo said Shaun at Boostworx has done a crap load from here, and i'd say a crap load more from people not on here! Seems as the Power FC and Nissan are a quite the combo! WogsRus
I have a SAFC II and they do help a lot, but i wish i had a PFC now, just controlling the fuel is insuficient, need timing as well. Pauly33GTS-t
dont say there is no substitute for a Power FC this is just electronics... what is the alternate solution if they do not exist anymore. Alot of people would benefit from that sort of information. 4door_Sleeper
Added bonus is that you can plug the PFC in yourself and drive to the dyno and get a tune. The PFC isnt obvious, so there is a lot lower chance of a defect than having a SAFC mounted on the dash. There are other options, but bang for buck and simplicity are in favour of the PFC Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/145309-power-fc-or-piggy-back/#findComment-2718394 Share on other sites
Maxx
R34 ECU has self learning function, hence piggy back (SAFC) is not a good choice as it will return to basic ECU mapping after power cycle. as the mapping developement will never be the same, a retune is require if the car run out of battery i remeber Andrew is having such a problem with Unichip on his S15 Edited December 1, 2006 by Maxx Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/145309-power-fc-or-piggy-back/#findComment-2720719 Share on other sites
