Saff Cossie - Yeah I'd say it had some mods when it was in Japan Alan..... got the Carbony exhaust thingy, an ARC heat shield & a Cusco rear Strut Brace.... susp isnt stock ethier, cant be as it sits really low...... but on the hoist today the Springs etc are plain black Mitsubishi ones!?! Its also got some sort of aftermarket clutch as its a fair PIA ! :P Nah I love it...... :D

Matt - Thanks man, I cant stop driving it... even though I really shouldnt be on the permit! We need to to do a photoshoot! ;)

Archie01 - RNEVO? I dunno dude, i'll stick with the old one :) For now!...... Hows your beast going?

Snowy - Gunmetal Wheels FTW!!!!! I wanted a Yellow Evo at first, but White swayed me, they look awesome with nicely offset rims & tasteful carbon bits. :)

I'll take some more pix over the weekend with the HKS exhaust on it, and the tint is pretty awful too, so ive got to (carefully) peel it off & get it all redone...as well as give it a good detail!

Cheers for all the replys :)

while no evo can be called attractive being based on a lancer of all things, there are many things that look worse than a turd... like your car!

Marry me Dave :D

gah, everyone's got an evo but me

Thanks for the replies everyone. :)

Tuesday night must of been Evo night! :) Three Fangers getting Evo's.....

I would of loved a new IX, but its more than I could afford, the VII will do nicely. I had a nice surprise when I picked it up, a set of Factory ( i assume ) HID's on the seat!

Heres a crappy pic(s) of it outside my workshop I took this morning..... didnt do too much work, fitted my HKS HiPower exhaust instead! :)

very very nice - according to top gear the 400bhp evo that they tested kept up with the murcielago :D

stock on the outside (cept for wheels and exhaust), modify on the inside i say - bit like me see (innocent enough on the outside, but the most evil person on the inside  )

That was the FQ400 (if 400bhp) but thought it was the FQ360 when I saw it. Very fast but as demonstrated at the end of the feature, massively laggy. :)

OHHH... Thanks very muchly, I guess beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Your probably not old enough anyway to appreciate it!

StarionTurbo would at least agree with me. :woot: (I hope;-)

Jackie Chan agrees

BTW - mine all fixed. Was 4th gear slider - it warped due to heat. Seems the part was just a Friday arvo job and likely to have been at the limit of manufacturing tolerances. No driver error (GAGF sLowth), no GB oil problems (Castrol Syntrax), and no damage to other components. Still - an expensive exercise non the less.

Fingers crossed it stays fixed so I can beat Snowy and Chris at DECA in Feb :ninja:

I noticed you didn't mention me in that list @ Deca?

Glad to hear it was nothing hugely serious though!

Hmmm... more Evo's.. after test driving the new Evo9 with the sports pack, was quite impressed.. almost enough to buy it till they offered me f&*k all for my R33 (which was to be expected)..

Def impressive round the corners, pretty stiff, was nice driving something new rather than old...

Great buy on the VII..

Oh come on.

Its like parents of an god ugly child. :ninja:

They know its ugly, everyone sure are hell knows its ugly...

But by saying it over and over, the parents think that one day the ugly child might actually get a half decent head.

And from what ive seen of my brother, believe me, once ugly, always ugly

Is that how you justify keeping that Pintara of yours

saff - is your evo laggy as well? or is that just for the FQ models? I thought the newer turbo models are less laggy in general.

Emsta,

All the FQ models (excluding the FQ400) used the factory turbo. As such - the only one which suffered terrible lag was the 400.

Cheers,

matt

    • I have one of these! It is absolutely useless. It provides not nearly enough force on the bolt, it just slips over anything that is not finger tight. And if it's finger tight, you can use your fingers.
    • You have to take photos of the car in Victoria with a timestamp. So if you have big aftermarket turbo in your engine bay, your car is simply not getting a RWC and you'll be doing a lot of returning to stock, and re-modding after about 90 days (because cars that have had a RWC can be audited after the fact). The law I'm kinda ambivalent about. I can see the logic and the writing on the wall, Cobb etc would be well known for selling to 'wink wink off the street usage' but in the real world everyone knows what they do and where they end up. It'd be like someone selling guns in Australia but "only to people who have a proper licence" but selling them outside of Bunnings instead of sausages to anybody. Like RWC's, and VASS's and EPA, this is enforcement of the actual existing rules. I haven't looked into it but there (should) be a way for people to legally pass their tuned car to be within the rules if they can prove they pass emissions laws that are applicable. If there's not then that's another story.
    • Interesting post(haven't watched the vid). I'm surprised companies can be fined for selling products that are specifically meant for certain applications.  How can you force a customer to use or apply your products in 100% the way intended? People have been misusing products since they were invented. Heck, I ate dessert last night with a soup spoon. Does that mean the spoon manufacturer could be fined? And what of the customers who actually want to use the product for its intended use?   I'm sure we could discuss and debate this for a while, but this is an introduction thread and I dont mean to take over it.
    • I think depending how much left over cash I have after all the kids and wife (daycare, extra curriculum activities, toys, and whatever they drain from my account, wife's spending, etc.) I might go for the Advan A052 OR if the bank account says no, then Nankang CR-S.
