Well I installed all the seats.. Didnt bother threading the white strings in the front bottom parts of the seats..

The top half of the middle seats the middle strings fell out .. another BS time when I didnt need it to happen.. but most of the side ones are fine so worked with them and got a nice fit..

You deff need to run the white lines with the front top halves of the seats and the rear bottom half of the seats just to contour everything..

Tried to fit the centre console but it seems like a two man job hey..

No have to work out how to fit the side pannels .. Im using black leatherette to do large R34 Lettering on the red to make it look custom and the centre console and head rests are getting a "S" and SKYLINE embroided into them.. Yet to find out on that cost ..

Hope everyone is doing well neways

Im a little pissed with these covers.. So far ive done the back seats..

The right hand side of the back bottom cover was nothing to be excited about.. two of the white strings came out when I was pulling the needle onto the string .. ! no hard force! Then the whole stitching on the back (thank god it was back) with the black strings attached to it .. ripped away from the leatherette. Under force yes.. but not more than the rest of the seat!

what can be done about this? I can live with it but im assuming if a few people sit on it a few times its going to go bye byes!

Doing the fronts and rest today .. well see how they fair

Also on the point .. how do you remove the interior facia on the pannels I removed the whole pannel from the wall but seems you need just to lift away the pannel .. can it just be popped off? wtf am i going to slide behind it but not cut it to lift it away?

if you have issues with the quality or whatever with your covers i appriciate if you let me know or contact ultimate directly to resolve the problem..

there has been over 50 people in the two GBs and noone complained about the quality...there were a couple of minor issues in the first GB and they were resolved very quickly and without any pain/cost to the buyers..

pm me if you want my help, please dont bag the covers here, as per the rules of GB too i might add.

I can say what I want! dont tell me to supress what happened.. It broke .. people can know so they try not to break other sets!

It was quite a large rip but it was on the back of the cover which slides under the top part of the back seat so its not an issue!

I didnt remember signing a agreement or entering into a contract to not comment on the covers tearing. Therefore I will not shut up.

Thats quite rude. Its like saying I cant tell someone I had bad service at a shop because it will ruin the business! (for everyones sake I did NOT have bad service it was quite good just had a little problem)

And in the 50 people who have bought the items I do remember someones head rest doing the same and she told everyone about it and it was recified.

* I have chosen not to worry, and for future reference you should prob just tell them to sew the middle strings a little better, not tell me to shut my face. Shit happens

NOW FOR EVERYONE READING THIS GOING.. THIS GUYS A NUT.. I AM .. Secondly the covers are awesome and look very stock or custom whatever your trying to achive, may I add feel very very very similar to leather and generally make driving alot more enjoyable (feel like im back in my BMW)

I would recommend them to anyone!..

While im at it any advice on how to install the back panel facia? just trace and cut and stick?

haha yeah dude, i get what you mean :(

For the back parcel tray, if you have spacers, make some new ones up, I have 1cm thick MDF spacers to suit my 6X9s

you just trace over the top then stick it down and cut to suit

hey champ..

no worries :)

what year is the audi?

anyone got any tips on sticking the side facia on? im attempting now with hot glue just for a pre test but shit damn its hard to get it right.. the door trims cant be removed .. unless I drill the rivets?

alright I ripped off the padding, pannel covers etc and removed all the padding .. now im just going to glue straight onto the plastic .. anyone got an idea what type of glue to use??

The old man suggests contact but I feel it will be to thick .. I was thickin resin? to hard maybe? any suggestions?

whos retrimmed an interior what glue was used?

your run of the mill contact adhesive is all you will need. i just go into my local trimmer with a paint tin, say fill it up and give the man $20. save yourself alot of money and get good stuff compared to what comes from supercheap auto.

if your covering a large area, get a gravity fed spray gun with a 1.5 tip and spray it. if not get a paint brush and spread it very thin. contact adhesive works best when its practicaly dry and spread very sparingly on both surfaces. heat the stuff with a heatgun before stretching corners to aviod any rips

yeah, I have used the selleys kwik stick on mine

although, you can also go down to your local fabric place and get contact adhesive, or bunnings sells it for $15 in the paint section, works very well and the coat is so thin you won't notice

you need to unscrew the console lid, put the cover on tight and then put the screws back... you are not meant to just put it on like a shower cap over the lid....

Looking closely at my console lid, i believe it only goes on one way. You'll notice the stitching is different at one end, which i assume is for the locking mechanism... correct me if im wrong...

Can anyone give advice on how to install the gear-boot, or handbrake boot?

Old gear boot is held on by little metal crimped clips - do you cut these off, and how do you attached the new boot?

Handbrake boot - how do you remove the old one, do you have to take out the centre console?

Edited by Trav33

To remove the metal clips get a table fork put two spikes of the fork behind the metal round thing and gently rock back and fwd to off .. if that doesnt work yank the shit out of them..

As for the glove box dont even worry about doing up the screws for a few ways unless u wack a hair dryer on it now to remove creasing.. it will uncrease in the next 3-4 days u just unscrew the lower part of the lid pop it in and strech as well as u can and screw it up ..

For people installing the wall/pannel plates.. heres what I did..

Take all doors, and pannels off.. with a small screw driver dive into the material and work it off the plastic - for r34s there is foam benith which has to be removed(and replaced) with metho and a paper towel (towel worked best i duno why) it will take some nice elbow work to remove it tho!

Get some 5mm thick foam (soft type) and some quick grip or upholestry glue for the next steps.

With the removed pannels flip them ass up and place them on your material (also ass up) trace pannel onto material and then cut shape out..

do the same for the foam you have aquired however cut it 5mm smaller than the original dimentions on all sides.

now glue these together!

slide in the material and foam into place and begin gluing the middle and sides of the door, pannel arch the material and slide into the slots and flatten out .. once all the right place use a hair dryer to hold all the shit in place..

then youve got urself new accessories... enjooy!

BTW if in sydney PM me if you need foam .. I bought to much .. got about 1.5 x 1.4 meters of the shit

    • I know this one’s the BB one. My tuner did make mention about the actuator. I am curious about the VCT as well
    • Might also needs a stronger actuator with the right preloading. With older 2019 built bush G3 units, BB upgrade or 21U housing down size makes a pretty decent gain in response as well.
    • Hey lads  so im finally putting together my rb30 forged bottom end and ran into an issue. I measured my main bearing clearance with arp main studs torqued to 60 ft-lbs using ACL H series STD size bearings and standard, un-ground crank shaft journals and got an oil clearance reading of about 1.3 thou measuring straight up and down and about 2.8 thou measuring at a 45 degree angle (just above and below the parting line). My machine shop said they measured the main tunnel and it was all within spec (they didnt say the actual measurement) and to go with a standard size bearing, which i have done and the clearance is too tight, I'm guessing because of the extra clamping force from the arp studs distorting the main tunnel. I was wanting to run about 2.5 thou main bearing clearance.  My questions are: 1. could i just use the HX extra 1 thou clearance ACL bearings? that would fix my straight up and down clearance making it about 2.3 thou, but then would the side to side clearance be too big at around 3.8 thou? 2. what actually is the recommended main bearing clearance for measuring near the parting line / side to side. i know its supposed to be bigger as the bearing has some eccentricity built into it but how much more clearance should there be compared to the straight up and down measurement? at the moment there is about 1.5thou difference, is that acceptable or should it be less? 3. If i took the engine block + girdle back to the machine shop and got them to line bore the main tunnel (like i told them to do the first time, but they said it didnt need it) what bearing size would i buy? the STD size bearing shells already slide in fairly easily with no real resistance, some even falling out if i tip the girdle up-side-down. If im taking material out of the main tunnel would i need a bearing with extra material on the back side to make up for it? this is probably confusing af to read so if something doesn't make sense let me know and ill try explaining in a different way. My machine shop doesn't come back from christmas break until mid January, hence why i'm asking these questions here. TIA for any help or info
    • I bought the model back in Japan in Feb. I realised I could never build it, looked around for people who could build it, turns out there's some very skilled people out there that will make copies of 1:1 cars or near enough. I'm not really a photo guy... but people were dragging me in a group chat for the choice of bumper as someone else saw the car before it was finished as they are also a customer of that shop. I took the photo in the above post because I was pretty confident that the lip would work wonders for it. Here's some more in-progress and almost-done pics. It gives a good enough idea as to what the rear looks like!   I have also booked in a track day at the end of January. Lets all hope that is nothing but pure fun and games. If it's not pure fun and games, well, I've already got half an engine spare in the cupboard
    • Well, do ya, punk? Seriously though, let's fu<king go! The colour and kit looks amazing on the car. Do you have any shots from the rear? I don't quite follow how the model came around. You bought the white kit and he modified it to match your car? Looks nuts either way!
