hey guys just curious does anyone else see there gauge get this low? picture was taken about 5mins after i gave it a bit of a floggin thru 3rd and 4th and pulled up to idle...

oil im using is motul semi syn 10w-40w

if you have a warning light too for low pressure then yeah its probably low low pressure = bad but if its just the guage it could be the sender on crack

im not sure ive never seen any engine light come on....its a late 94 series 1 r33....would it have engine light?

i done a compression test few weeks ago and came up basically 150psi in all 6 cyclinders few psi difference between them

yeah it would definetly have a light

from memory its top left, red light

turn the car to ON but don't start it (so diag/test lights come on)

and look for a red light with an oil tin can icon

could be anything. 1 bar at idle is a little low. the only real way to determine if it's a real problem or not is to get a hold of a proper oil pressure gauge. I would suggest buying one to have in your car permanently, but if that doesn't appeal, then just borrow one.

also, oil pressure at idle is not a major concern. I would be more worried about what the oil pressure is like at 3000rpm and 5000rpm.

yep just checked and it does have a oil light which is good! but i have yet to see it come on..im due for a oil change and concerned what oil to try...thinner or thicker? 5w to thin? stick with 10w? also i mite try putting a dif oil pres gauge on the car and check it thru that...do i do this wen its hot ?

sorry i didn't see what u wrote about the oil pressure at 3000rpm..it rises well above half way on gauge once i start driving it again but drops really quickly once i back off!

yes that is normal. pressure rises as revs rise, and falls as revs fall. the faster the engine is spinning, the faster the pump is spinning.

as long as it's over 4 bar at 3000rpm i would not worry too much. and yes, all readings should be taken when engine (oil) is hot. 10W40 is fine.

my car did that once my turbo oil seal started getting worse, so it could be your turbo as well as worn bearings/faulty gauge. dont write it off as a faulty gauge without checking.

if you want to check if you've done your turbo oil seal then disconnect the piping at the lowest point of the plumbing and check for oil.

Generally when its the sender some days the oil pressure will be perfectly normal then another day it will read near zero or just low generally.

I've seen mine sit perfectly on zero, then just as I looked down it had a spazo and jumped quickly to 5 (~3000rpm) and was then perfect for the next week until it had another small spazo and began reading low again, then as usual it goes back to normal soon after.

If its constantly reading low I would be concerned and definitely get it checked. If its 'looks' like a stuffed guage get it checked anyway. :laugh:

Or buy your self a $100 oil pressure gauge and know your self for sure.

dude get a decent aftermarket guage on there. I WOULD be worried, but thats because i have had a low reading like that, and everything else was fine, no oil consumption, good power etc. but cost me $$$

your much better off if you rebuild the motor before it does any damage in the bottom end

well ive just done a oil change i used Penrite SIN 15w-40w wanted to go something a lil bit thicker..oil pressure hasnt gone below 1/4 and ive been given it a fair bit..seems to be running good.but im still pulling my hiflow off and gettin it all checked out seals etc.

    • Ok gotcha, so one post to fpr  another to bov  and I have the mishimoto boost controller and a link g4+ so I’d just have the tuner set it up properly. For the last two from plenum post throttle to  ecu/ boost controller, I know that I have a hose coming from the ecu that I was confused about so I assume that’s what connect to the boost controller from the ecu? And then the last is just from plenum to boost controller then to wastegate?
    • From there, it was just a quick electrical check, prime the oil and start her up Which, is not what happened. 1. Bloody seppo Aeropro battery holder. Not only was it too tall for the battery (which I'll forgive them for, I have another battery the same nominal size that is taller than Neil's one, but the bracket is a fixed height so the battery was spaced up) But the thing that really shits me is the hardware to hold it on requires a 7/32 Hex key. WTF. No-one will ever be able to remove or install the damn thing without a hex key they don't own 2. Kill switch no longer worked once the console was installed. Neil mentioned above he had to adjust the length but it no longer cleared the console once installed. Sorted. 3. Suspiciously, the brake light holders were hanging in the boot with no globes. Sure enough the stopper on the brake pedal was missing so they are always on unless the kill switch is activated. Will pick one up tomorrow (turns out 32 and 33 don't use the same stopper) 4. All that sorted, I turned on the kill switch, turned the key to ACC. Nothing. Turned it to IGN. Nothing. Checked some fuses and found the main IGN in the boot was missing which improved things once it was replaced. Now ECU and dash lights turn on with IGN but still no fuel pump. 5. Turned it to Start....ECU on, no fuel pump, no starter. Plus the voltage dropped straight to 9v.  I suspect the starter is f**ked but am going to have to work through it all and see what is happening, really looks like more than one issue. Does anyone have the R33 fuse box key with the circuit it sources from (eg BAT, ACC, IGN, SRT etc) and supplies? I can find a translated list showing Amps and circuit without supply circuit, and I can find supply circuit without Amps and target circuit.
    • 3rd time lucky, the AAC is now all plumbed up after getting some final fittings All set up under the plenum of maximum access
    • OK, so the weight has been bugging because it was really low. I did it again today and got a more believable answer at 1246 without driver And with a 93kg driver I'm pretty sure the car was still slightly on the quickjack last time meaning the full weight was not on the scales
