Just bought a Mr30 with a l28 in it. Have organised for a rb20det to go in, but just need some info on what exactly is needed for it to bolt staright in. Ie, engine mounts, gearbox, cross memeber and everything needed. Also roughly what does a l28 sell for in good condition?

Thanks for any help

Ben

check out skylinesdownunder forums, a few guys have done it there...

my understanding is the crossmember needs to be replaced with one from an R31 skyline, and a custom gearbox mount, or if you have a front cut, then swap the crossmember over with the engine... then the drive shaft needs shortening, and probably a stronger diff... then brakes!

And the brake master cyl. does nort fit with an RB20, so the R32 one needs to go in too...

i have been looking into it too, and i decided to keep my L24 as it has low km and wont give me any trouble if i look after it right...

The l28(et) will beat an RB20det if its all turboed up, with some good headwork and an aftermarket ECU...

its a good idea if you dont have stacks of cash...

but if you have a front cut... go for it!

Where are you located? i may be interested in your L28 if you really are selling it... how many km decides the price...

R31's and R30's have pretty different crossmembers from when I last checked. I know this because although they're about the same width, r30's have a much shorter crossmember but make up for it with longer control arms, Where as R31's have much shorter control arms but make up for it with a really long crossmember. I'm at a lack of understanding as to how the crossmembers themselves would be compattible but then again there's only one way to find out.

There's also this;

engine mounts, i used the r30 cross member mounts with 5mm spacers and the rb20 engine mounts lined up fine...

Here's a topic someone opened up previously that should be a good read for you. Otherwise I'd just keep this thread open I guess...

Ben

What specs are on the L28 and where are you???

I need block casting number (find this near the sump mounting face just behind left engine mount) and head casting number (find this near head face between plugs 1 & 2)

Cheers, D
