the amount of money you'd waste doing that, you could almost sell your GTS-t and buy a proper GTR

agreed, or rip the engine out, sell it and put in a standard rb26, it will still be faster not to mention more reliable.

I would opt to go either gtr engine or simply upgrade single turbo, fuel, injectors and intercooler. i was gonna tt the rb25det and every performance store i went to basically told me to piss off and not waist there time

Having had one of the first Twin Turbo rb25’s in Australia, Queensland atleast it’s not really worth it.

What’s the goal for the car? Street? Drag? Drift?

Rb20’s aren’t really ideal straight out of the box as well; do you plain on running a stroker of any form? Cost Vs cost it's cheaper, easier and a better out come to just upgrade to a bigger single + support gear.

But hey, if you wana be a bit different, why not, one of the guys on Secret drift had a Twin Turbo rb20 in his Laurel, was meant to be pretty responsive, only made about 220rwkw though I believe..

From memory man it was a lag monster. Didnt come on to boost til 4500 or something. And they werent massive turbos either. But that is just from memory.

I think you maybe right, can't really remeber the car or the specs too well.

I saw at Goodyear underwood a s13 RB20 Twinturbo being built. If you ring you want Luke the mechanic.

I would agree with the posts above stating that it would be a waste of time. If you have the money and time to pour into it for a drift or drag car then go for it. other than that it would just be more of a dilemma than a dream to drive.

Good luck man--- GO RB26!

If it really comes down to it tho an RB25 in an R32 is going to go pretty darn good. Sure the RB26 is good braging rights, but bang for buck its still way off.

Really, work out what you want out of the car before you make up your mind. But if you got enought to be even thinking about twinning an RB20, you should be looking seriously at other options.

seen up to around 280 - 300rwkw on a BIG budget 20

I've seen quite a few with 220-240rwkw with fairly modest budgets, but how long they will last is a good question. That said anything over that and your looking for some rebuild stuff to keep it reliable. That and headwork...

would be interesting to see what is acheivable, but logically thinking the RB20 is only a 2.0L motor and u are putting twin turbos set up off an engine which has an extra 0.6L ontop iof it, which i reckon would put you behind the ball from the get go, not enough capacity to sustain the set up and will be a lag monster one would think.

RB25's are a popular conversion into R32's nowdays, they are bigger capacity motor and are apparently a bit stronger then the RB20 in stock form. plus not to mention they are a newer motor, failing that id go the RB26 if u can find a decent one about. butu u gota think of things like if u break the 25 its wont cost as much to replace as the 26, and or rebuild.

I did it doing all the labour and fabrication myself. Have about $3K spare to do it yourself. $5K-7K if you were to pay a workshop. Standard gaskets are expensive, about $400. Another $400 for lines, all the twin exhaust setup fits but the manifolds need to be cut and welded and match ported or an adaptor plate fabricated (part of this revision), fabricate a single AFM intake for the turbos, oil returns are a pig, the list goes on.

My goal was TT on a higher compression well built race engine, so I had a logical reason, and now done I'll stick with what I'm doing but not worth it just for bragging rights. I'm still contemplating a decent single and good manifold and selling the "kit" but still running the six throttles.

I am in the process of checking over the engine and fitting different turbos, new injectors, GTR throttles and intake and the adaptor for the exhaust manifolds so hope to be running again in about 4 weeks. Didn't get much time to try it as there was a problem with the injectors it seems. With a stuffed back I have been unable to do the pull down.

Spot on! When I bought my RB25 R32 it was great! It was making 200rwkw and was pretty quick...now it makes 245rwkw and it is nuts! I love it

I bought a whole forged, rebuilt RB25 with 4000km on it for 5k and last time I looked an average RB26 is going to cost that much at least! SO bang for buck the RB25 is the hands down winner

so ultimately a rb25 would require less $$$ spent on it to aquire similar power output of a rb20?!!

around 200 rwkw is easy for an RB25 whereas an RB20 will need a turbo swap before then, also the RB25 will have better average power even if the RB20 makes a similar peak figure

    • yeah I've never understood that either.... And to answer an earlier question, I write the date on open bottles and throw them if more than 12 months old (which they almost always are, because I don't need to bleed them unless I'm changing lines/calipers etc in between)
    • Nah, the one that hit the boot was a big steel locker, around 6 foot height, 4 foot wide and 2 foot deep, empty it weighs about 15kg and had about that amount of stuff in it The photo didn't give a good representation of the actual damage, the large ding on the passenger side was about a inch deep, the one on the driver was about 1/2 inch deep, right on the curve, where the inner boot frame doesn't let you get behind it with a dolly Basically the same issue with getting behind the damage on the centre of the boot We could have filled it all with bog, but my OCD would be triggered every time I looked at it, knowing what hides beneath  As for the locker, I did get the shits with it and put it in the scap metal bin, but, I pulled it out and it is now sitting in the garage at home full of car servicing stuff, cleaning gear and random tools, it's going to pay for it's indiscretions
    • Whilst I typically don't cheap out on things, if I can save some money, like $1000, on a clean straight panel, that gives me $1000 to spend on other stuff, basically free money really 🤔 🤣
    • Is the toolbox that damaged the boot seal the same item that fell on the car during the storm a while back?
