hey ray,

i had to use a sandwich plate, they have them at justjap, but if ur in melb, go to burtons (i think thats how u spell it) on princess hwy in dandy, they have them for 39 bucks...n u just attach the sender to the sandwich plate, n put the sender between the oil filter n engine block...i reckon wen u do this to change ur oil n oil filter too just to get 2 birds with one stone.

hope that helps ya.

Yeah I was thinking of using one of these, but I don't need the factory gauge and I thought I might just save the $39 and install it in factory location. I've taken the factory sender off, looked at the threads and they look identical to aftermarket one. I don't know how to measure the threads but when I attempted to screw the new one back onto the engine block it got really tight. I was afraid to screw it in anymore incase I thread it.

The thing is the thread adaptor piece that came with the autogauge sender screwed onto the factory one easily. In fact it was easier to screw it onto the factory sender than the autogauge one.

Does that mean the threads are the same if the adaptor fits both senders?

although the factors sender is shitty, it still has the "low oil pressure" light function that does in fact work..

that's the advantage of the sandwich plate as you can keep the factory gauge light and still have your aftermarket gauge!

ps this thread might be of some help: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=144726
