Hey all,

Im currently looking for a fairly clean r32 GTR. Im basically looking for a 93 model with under 100,000k's. My budget is $24500 but all GTRs i have seen at the dealers around sydney in that price range are in absoloutly pathetic condition. Im not kidding when i have seen handfuls of rust and cars with interiors that need a complete re-trim along parra road going for around the $25000 marks. There is also almost none for sale privatly at the moment it seems in Sydney. I have seen some nice tight examples in the dealers but they seem to be asking for around the $27000+ marks which i dont have and in all honesty i dont think the cars are worth. I have even seen some of the dealers asking for low 30's for clean but fairly unremarkable cars. On the whole though there seem to be very few nice ones around. If they are around i cant find them.

Am i been unreasonable trying to find what im after in sydney with my budget?

I was in the same position as you a few weeks ago. Same thing, lots of rubbish.

I was lucky to find a nice one on this forum. You have to move quickly though, as there are a few people out there hunting for clean GTRs.

Here is my ride;

cheers,

Id agree with buying an untidy car cheaply and cleaning it up.

I looked for ages and settled on a decent car with a new engine. I spent a few bucks bringing the body back up to scratch, new set of rims and had the interior cleaned professionally.

Its a nice clean example now which I know is reliable.

I also looked along parra road, everyone who had GTR's was way over priced for what they are selling. Most of the vehicles had old crappy wheels, shity paint jobs with pannels that had obvious colour differences.

Wait it out for a private sale if you want something thats well cared for.

hey mate

check out this car dealer in lansvale on hume highway past the old sizzler

(right next to solace and blairs tyres)

I checked out some nice GTR's there...

made me wany sell my gts-t and get one...

hhmmm maybe in a few yrss

they had this white one for $22,000 with i think 80,000ks

didnt look too bad, there where some others also....

there was a GTR 32 Vspec II for 32,000

if not try and import one urself

with the help of j-spec, might save u a couple of bucks

There is a beautiful 1994 white BNR32 thats just been added to the Prestige Motorsport list and it looks like a top example.

Asking price is $21000, and includes full compression test and mechanical check information from Prime Garage.

Worth checking out :D

its a hard one.

expect to pay 1-1.2mil yen for a mega clean STOCKISH one.

finding one in ausi thats a genuine this is near imposible. trust me. unless you bring one in your self. i got mine from the dude nick sugested. you pay a little more but its worth it i think.

mine was imaculate with service histry from new to 2003. and a genuine 150k on the clock. its now done 220k and not missed a beat.

hmm well I have quite a nice 32R. bought by me from japan in 2004. 2 owner non-smoker car in japan. 80,000kms with some service history to support it. since then I've spent lots of money making it into what i think is nice. immaculate body work, all original, full re-spray in factory gun metal grey... engine rebuilt in japan in 2003 and currently making 270rwkw with a conservative tune. I would happily sell it for about $35K+. other than that it's staying with me for a long long time.

anyway this is all moot now as the guy who started this thread has found and bought a 'nice' car from a sydney car dealer...

    • Wow the colour matched hard top completely transforms the car. Are there any nice front lip options for the car or is that off the table?
    • Generally yes but for some reason I've been ruthless this time around!  I might even need to do another tip run after the way I've finally been able to hit the delete button on shit I've stepped over, stepped around and tripped over for the past 10 years!

    • It just depends if you're like me with a high level of OCD for doing something like hardlines, and highly critical of the little things, and then bugger all patience to get it how my brain pictures it
    • More than happy with the colour match Talking to the painter he recommended to give the top a few weeks for the paint to 100% cure prior to sealing it with the ceramic stuff Also, because why not..... I have a fancy pants Fluidampr harmonic balancer on order, the 2.5 engine uses the OEM 2.0 balancer off the old motor as the 2.5 balancer is a larger unit and doesn't fit clearance wise, which, because the two engines have different harmonics, isn't optimal, the OEM balancer does the job, but as the gear driven balancer in the bottom end is removed to fit a RWD application there is slightly more vibration, the Fluidampr helps with the harmonics that the gear driven balancer once took care of,  basically makes life easier on the oil pump and bearings when thrashing it around Hopefully the weather gets better soon because I'm keen for some cruising around, and currently, with the winds and storms we are getting, the amount of detritus being blown around from trees on the road isn't something I want to be driving around in
