I've found Ragazza's (spelling) South Road St Mary's is well priced. He used to own a line himself so he's an 'enthusiast' so to speak.

No point taking the car to someone who dislikes the cars and has no idea where to get parts from.

I've had quite a few places tell me... I get the parts and they will do the job otherwise they won't touch it as it will cost to much for me to pay them to ring around. Load of crap really.

I received a few quotes around the 600-700mark, Ragazza's was the cheapest being $400. My A/C has issues though, a small leak.

Chances are if yours is beginning to be not so cold yours too has a small leak some where.

did you get your aircon sorted in the end?

as for leak, it seems the area to check the aircon "bubble" is stained with oily firm. it still quite cold at the moment in temperature like 33 and below, any temperature above that the aircon have no effect.

my goodness, that is gotta be an expensive servicing/repair.

Nope not sorted yet... :P

Its on the back burner for the moment due to priorities.

My leak is the hose that runs from the compressor to the condensor. Its the only big fat hose there is, put the a/c on and I can see moisture bubbling slowly out the top of the insulation.

Bit of a bugger. Nissan want $330 or something for a new hose, ragazza or whom ever they are said they can repair it for $100 or so.

is all your after is regassing

Unless there's a leak you don't usually need re gassing, just the usual 3yr receiver dryer service that in turn requires a re-gas. :)

I've had mine re-gassed, it lasted through summer and following year with a visible leak. All depends how bad the leak is as to how long it lasts.

Well it may.. I'm not 100%.. Its what I've been told by a mate who was originally going to do the work on my car but then decided to get out of the mechanics trade.

He said if it stops being as cold due the lack of gas then there's a leak that needs to be fixed. orings, hoses etc.

  • 2 weeks later...

I used Mobile Auto Electrical. Recommended by John at HiTech.

They came to me while at work - all done, easy :P

I'd recommend!

Hi All,

Have just dropped my car off to a place in pooraka called Vehicool.

Will let you know how things go when i pick the car up tomorrow.

Thanks

Shaun

Shaun , any update/comment on the service that Vehicool has done?

Hi All,

The update on my airconditioning is that my condenser is now on the way to melbourne to be refurbished with seals. There service to me has been very good as far and they are quite involved in the hi performance car industry. They have owed a skyline, XR6 Turbo and currently own a subaru Liberty. They have called me every step of the way and have even ruturned my car to me until the condenser is fixed and then i will take it back in to be put back into the car. Approx. costs to do this work is $800 - $1200.

My car is a 2001 GTT 4 door.

Thanks

Shaun

since we're on the topic of airconds! well mine blows out air and has pressure and all! filled with gas but it doesn't get hot or cold! well i'm thinking it's an electrical problem but i don't know! so any suggestions of what the probblem might be, would be appreciated!

    • That's f**ked up. I'd guess it's more likely that you have an entire S13 subframe in there. Does it still have HICAS mounting points? Seeing as it is quite possible that yours is the only such converted car in the world, you'll probably struggle to find someone who can tell you from direct experience. 'Twere I you, I'd be looking for 4 stud Skyline rear brakes and convert back. At a minimum. Preferably go find all the stuff you need to put it back to 5 stud (assuming you're happy to change wheels) and upgrade to some decent brakes. You don't even need much stock stuff. Don't need calipers or rotors, as you can go fully aftermarket. Just needs hubs and the other bits and bobs that are different to what you have now.
    • The engine has nothing to do with it. The physical space behind the headlight is the limiting factor. And the height. The height of the NS70 is the same as stock. So the clamp bar across the top goes on nice. The battery tray is big enough for it to sit on. The X is for extra capacity - it has even more lead in it than the non-X NS70. Heavy f**ker. But it's not a track car, so I will suffer a couple of extra kg. In the case of the R34, maybe the physical space there is not as deep (forward-backward, not up down). Hence why they say the 60 is the biggest. But I would never trust a catalogue to tell me what will fit. I have the car. I have the existing battery. I have the tape measure. I have the dimensions of all the available batteries. I find the biggest box that will go in. (With the right terminals in the right places, of course).
    • Hello! I have been having a hard time finding the answer to this question… I have a R32 GTS-T Sedan than has been 4 lug swapped using S13 hubs, rotors, and brakes. The front has also been converted to S13 suspension.    When the swap was completed, the handbrake cables were never hooked up, as the S13 rear calipers are the “handbrake”, and not the typical drum on rotor that the R chassis are. Does anyone know handbrake cables that will work for this conversion? I’d like to not use a hydraulic handbrake and stick with the traditional cable style. My original thoughts were to go with S14 cables and try to make them work, since I’m pretty sure S13 cables will be too short.    Any help would be appreciated!
    • I did some research, considering you have a neo engine, how is that battery compatible? I checked centuries website and super cheap and says it's not compatible. Only this full size one is. https://www.centurybatteries.com.au/products/ns60-mf
    • No, lets be honest here. I went to Winton and did a track day, for all the mods and V8 power and craziness I posted up a time that a K24 stock motor Honda Accord can do on the same tyres (narrower, too) 250kw and learning how to drive the f**kin thing is the sweet spot.
