Im stuck at the actuator at the moment trying to alter the bracket so it lines up

The actuator they supplied me with had a straight rod.

It was no good.

Too much mucking around involved to bend it.

I went back and they gave me a rod that comes already bent.

Have a look at it on the photo above.

Just got out of the garage.

All is well and tightened.

Will tow it to the exhaust shop tommorrow

to make up some new pipes.

That looks like a big comp cover - no wonder you needed the spacer.

What is the origin of the turbine housing? 0.71 A/R with T3 flange seems a bit of an unknown.

Will be very interested to see how it goes for you. One of these should offer response and good power.

Any chance of a clear shot of the ID plate with numbers?

ID TAG: 700177-5012

Latter on i realised that it was not sitting flush with the manifold.

The heat shield had to be removed & the bottom right bolt had

to be threaded in 5mm deeper as i could not put the nut on it.

This is a picture of the set-up when I placed it on this morning at 4:30am

(Me and my mate were burning the midnight oil into the early hours of the day. :laugh: )

in regards to the link below!

i hope you have spun the centre bearing cage around not left it as you have it in this picture.

the oil feed should be at the top so the oil drain is at the bottom and gravity can help the oil escape back into your sump.

when you get a new turbo the snails need to be adjusted to get everything lined up and the oil drain at the bottom.

not on the side as you have in this pic.

I have adjusted the centre core 20-30degress from the vertical,

garrett suggests a maximum orientation of 35degress.

Although this pic does not show it,

the oil drain is at the bottom and the oil feed is approx. 25 degress from the vertical

Some new findings at garret recommend this as the oil entering the top

at the stated orientation will swirl through the core providing greater lubrication.

Something weird about that turbo . My notes show CHRA no 700177-0012 as being a GT30/TO4S 56T cartridge so not a typo - 700177-5012 ?

Also that turbine housing is not Garrett or HKS so someone is doing something based on the T3 flange and the Hitachi dump flange pattern . Notice how the clamping area around the turbine outlet (opposite side to waste gate) is quite narrow meaning the dump pipe would need to be matched and some non std gasket used .

Also that oil drain fitting , I would be reluctant just to clamp a rubber hose to that and not expect heat to kill the hose . Steel pipes in this area are generally the most reliable .

Created Motorsports white drift R33 had this set-up

but with a t25/28 flange and 0.82 ex a/r

and he made 269rwkw with a significantly linear power curve.

Mine has a a 0.71 ex. a/r

so lets all wait and see how it pans out for me. :)

Actualy, the exhaust cover has the same pattern

as the stock R33 turbo.

The standard Nissan 6 hole gasket was used.

Do you know what is the origin/design of the turbine housing?

Perhaps an R34 / VG30 type, or copy of one?

Sorry for the delay guys.

Just finished the final touches and cold air intake yesterday.

Cranked it a few times to lubricated the engine then i fired it up.

I was reluctant to boot it as it could of been detonating.

Took it down to C&D Motorworks to load it up on the dyno

On three qaurter throttle (aproxx. 5000rpm)

It started detonating so we backed off and still made 221rwkw at 12psi

Judging by the power curve (in red) its heading for the +240rwkw zone

with a power FC and tune.

Pretty decent when you consider I still retain

the standard dump-pipe, injectors and airflow meter.

The old run with the standard turbo (in blue)

is on the same sheet for comparison.

Looking carefully, you can see that the power delivery

is much more linear than the stock turbo

Interesting conversion that one . I was thinking about using the Garrett equal to the GT-RS but with a GT30 turbine and housing . This turbo has the 52T rather than 56T 71mm compressor and the Nissan/Garrett style TO4B comp cover ie the two bolt inlet and three bolt outlet . So the cold side outline is more compact than the 3071R's TO4E outline so possibly removes the flange spacer issue .

As always the turbine housing is the stumbling block so the new Garrett IW housing in .63 or maybe one like you have . I should have asked for some pics of inside that housing before you fitted the turbo , such is life .

Be interesting to see the next tunes result , plus details of that exhaust housing because it has all sorts of interesting possibilities - depending on which turbine family it was designed for ie GT28 or GT30 .

are expected with the pfc?

Also, should i run an adjustable fuel regulator,

just to be sure it does not lean out in top-end?
