Brake's Not Working At All :o

hey guys. wondering if anyone can help me out. i have a 1996 series 2 r33 skyline. me and a mate changed over the front brake pads just before. now it was our first time on a skyline, so we did it slow and all went well. it was all good until i started it up... and the brake pedal is way soft, i can push it to the floor and the car wont stop! so we topped up the brake fluid thinking that would be the problem. but no, ive tried to pump it a bit, and it seems to hold some pressure after 5-6 pumps and starts to brake. but next time i need to brake, there is nothing. ive left the car sit for a hour, drivin it for a hour, and nothing!

what could be the problem? im using the dam handbrake to stop now!

any help would be great.

you need to bleed the hydraulic system,

^ Exactly, Bleed your front AND rear calipers,

There are nipples on them that you undo and it will let any air bubbles pass.

I'm sure there is a article on it somewhere, just have a quick search.

while ur at it get some high temp fluids in. good for cruise and track days.

the nipples are the lil dome's ontop of the calipers. get your mate to pump the pedal up and then hold his foot down on the pedal then you open the nipple. just dont let your mate go all the way to the floor then repeat this until the brakes return + dont let the reservior run out of brake fluid. For f**k sake dont drive a skyline without brake's jesus!

who in their right mind would change pads without bleeding the whole system anyway its part of changing the pads and if you didnt know this you shouldnt have even attempted changing the pads

You bleed the brakes every time you change pads? I must be doing it wrong as i've never once had this problem and I only do brake fluid when it needs it.

You mean - high priced fluid which is 100% more expensive for maybe 5% better performance... yeah thats a great idea.

Anyway for the original post, you have got air in your brakes somehow. Air bubbles are a pain in the ass to bleed out sometimes and sometimes you can make it worse if you stuff up something. You can spend a good amount of time getting the brakes back so if you cant be bothered take it to the nearest brake place and get them to use their pump. Costs an hours labour.

You dont bleed brakes wen u change pads, and it isn't part of the service! trust me I was an advisor.

If u need to bleed your brakes everytime u change ur pads then something is wrong with ur system.
