if you can find one with the right voltage and input i dont see why not

look in the PFC faq in my sig, someone found a suitable screen replacement on the rx7 forums

Better yet, get a Datalogit. Use a laptop and full size screen, and access further capabilities of the ECU.

this man is correct.

The laptop tuning side of things makes the job 1000 times easier. Seriously.

I agree that the datalogit makes it easier to dyno, but i dont want to have a laptop sitting in the car all the time. It would be good to be able to display 2 or 4 gauges on a smallish screen for easy viewing when driving.

it would be good if you get an rsm style screen for the PFC and plug it in

then you could choose between digital guages, didgital output and have it closer to the driver. the rsm is ace, if only it could show knocking

yeah ive got a busted 26 controller here

actually ive just looked at the unit in the powerfc FAQ and it looks the same as the one used in the hand controller ive got open here on my desk

the one inside the FC controller has a 20 pin connector with A and C on the right hand side like the one on the site here

http://graphic-lcd-lcds.shopeio.com/invent...b=Graphic%20Lcd

i didnt realise they had a common 20 pin connector, i thought all the crap on the back was part of the FC

it appears all the crap behind it is the logic for the LCD display. ace ill order one of those screens (out of stock) and wire it up to my working 25 controller

i wanna put it on a safc stand and have it next to my rsm, so that knock is more visible

But instead of using ECUTalk, run the PFC software on the laptop with readouts on the indash screen and only pull the laptop out for tuning purposes

the main board for the LCD display has 3 chips on the back

all hitachi chips with

5L1

HD 5

61202TFIA

Japan

The board has SII with a black dot

also has E91964 340 in white print

REV B

G1216

B1N (in a white box)

on the underside of the backlit display i can see

020596 in big black numbers

and in small gold numbers i can see D2161

ok ive just realised

the part no the FC board is G1216

the part on the seiko site is

Seiko 128x64

G121621V000

so it sounds like the same unit

let me order one n see how we go

The lcd needs to have the exact same controller or an equivalent as the original LCD otherwise the instruction set will be wrong and you won't get anything at all.

Because the original LCD is 128x64, you can't go any higher in resolution without going to a different controller. You might be able to go up in size but keep the same resolution but not by much.

Only way I can see you getting a larger display would be to figure out the powerFC serial protocol (datalogit and the handcontroller would use the exact same protocol) then program a microcontroller to get the data and put it on a larger display.

Is the powerFC datalogit cable USB or serial? If its serial it would have to be an asynchronous serial port. USB it could be either.

If someone has a dead powerFC I'd have a crack at it. It just so happens I have a graphic lcd in the mail

If anyone has any electronics questions about it... just fire off a PM and I'll see what I can do

    • Back in January, I noticed my car felt noticeably weak. I had the injectors cleaned, which seemed to solve the problem -- until now. Recently, the car suddenly lost power again while driving. Suspecting the injectors, I brought it to the mechanic. He recommended replacing them entirely, saying the current ones were getting unreliable and fiddly to work with. I could not find a direct replacement for my current injectors. The closest match I found were 440cc injectors. This led me to look into the possibility of upgrading -- and of course, that would mean remapping the ECU. From my research I found: The OEM Part numbers are 16600-72L20 and 16600-72L21 Both the RB20DE and RB20DET use the same 270cc injectors. There are much better options out there over the old OEM injectors. Nistune could be a viable tuning option. While the RB20DE isn’t explicitly listed on their site, the ECU is essentially the same as the GTS-T version - just with a different map. The ECU code on mine is listed as supported. One concern is finding a tuner who works with Nistune. Aftermarket ECU like Haltech and Link, but this would be the most expensive choice (and possibly overkill for a mostly stock RB20DE) I admit that I am very new to the tuning scene and would appreciate any insight or recommendations regarding this.   These are some SAU links where I got some of my information from for reference: https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/380324-rb20de-injectors/ https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/477396-factory-270cc-injectors/
    • The inspectors are not forensic by any means but if you forge your documents and/or badgings on vehicle parts and are found out, the consequences are just far bigger than if you just run illegal parts. And their job quite literally is to cross reference what parts you got installed and what your papers say you got. Something as silly as your suspension being 1mm too low will fail you. Nonetheless I asked if someone knew the damn pipe and I certainly did not ask for smartassery or underhanded comments, no idea why you need to be told this. Great way to waste both our time.
    • As useful as you explaining what forgery is... But then again, I wasn't aware your inspectors were also forensic experts and inspect nameplates on each component to confirm everything is original. They must inspect roughly 3 cars a year at that rate. You're right though, my comment doesn't help you in anyway, so I'll go talk to my wall now. Cheers.
    • Say that to the guy that is going to fail your inspection or tow your car for illegal exhaust modifications. If you have anything else useful to say, please go tell your wall.
