A BIG influence on insurance is the area lived.

Down south at my oldies place its just under $200 cheaper per year than up at the other halfs place near flaggy.

The 8000km's per year also knocks off a massive chunk of the premium,

Your doing well Madaz to be paying under 1k without a km restriction on rating one with the R33 GTS4. Whats the agreed value you have on it?

Shannons are a tad more expensive than the rest but they do monthly and not to mention their excess is 'normal'. No silly 2k excess and the likes if the car is stolen. :S

my agreed value is $21,700

$770 pay by the month and forget what excess is i think its 1g

i go OMG mainly cause how much younger he is that lockup garage is doing wonders for your premium

been with just car for a few years now.

I've found their premiums to be the lowest around but the downside is they often have a larger excess. Suits me fine tho - its saved me a lot of money anyway.

Good luck with shannons - i'm not happy with their service at all. Haven't even gotten a quote from them since they never wanted to insure me from the moment they answered the phone. First you have to prove you are an "enthusiast" - good luck with that. I mean i've been on cruises, to photoshoots, I wash the car like every week, its modified, tuned etc. but apparently I'm not an enthusiast - and yet they are happy to insure ford falcons -??!

anyway, and then because I called my garage a carport that instantly meant they go no further and nothing I could say would change that. I asked them if it would be that difficult if I wanted to make a claim....its not what I want to go through if I've just had an accident. :(

Others seem to have had better results with them so best of luck if you do - they do have great policies and are apparently a very good insurer - I just happen to always get some knob on the phone every time I ring :) No "hello how are you" or anything...just wanted to make excuses for why he couldn't insure me...

Am happy with Just Car Insurance though. They wont reject you for any mods (although they wont cover you if the mods are illegal) and they dont tell you how or where or when to drive your car. They understand its YOUR car and they are a great insurer from that point of view. And that is why I will be staying with them.

$1050 for a 1999 stagea turbo (i'm just 25 and my wife, 22, is also on the policy, we're both rating 1). And thats including the rating 1 protection.

No one else can match that quote (in my experience)...

I owned a n/a 1991 silvia when i was 19. Paid $1700 a year full comp on rating 3. That was with a broker (not thru just car). Then later I bought a turbo silvia and Just Car insured it for $1100 on rating 2. Cant say enough good things about them, although I've never had to make a claim (touch wood!) :)

Just car quoted me 1225 a year via the net for a 96 Series 2 Skyline manual turbo.

just that the claims are f**ken 2200 a piece.

im 20yo no history with bullshit whatsoever. good driver.

man thats dam good lol i am 19.. with very bad record and they fkn quoted me like 4000 a year... theres no way in the world ill fkn pay that...

have you tried Famous Insurance

not yet, maybe I will give them a call soon. Hadn't heard of them until recently.

The only thing I'd want to change about my policy would be to get choice of repairer - but other than that I am happy with just car's policies. And being so easy to deal with when it comes to mods and where the car is parked is a huge bonus.

EDIT: just had a read of their policy from their website - sounds pretty good. :P

pixel8r,

Just cars, shannons, famous, young and cool etc they all say the same.

The mods MUST be deemed legal otherwise they may void the policy.

We can tell the insurance company we have an aftermarket ecu, big turbo, injectors etc and they appear not to be bothered.

This because they 'Assume' you read the policy where it states modifications must be legal/engineered. If not they may very well pull out of a claim.

So I guess the best thing we can do is have the car towed to a place where one can have it 'stockified' meanwhile we run around deciding where to take the car to be repaired. :P

Really depends how modified a car is.

Yeah I realise that. My biggest gripe isn't about mods - maybe I came across wrong...

Its more about where you are allowed to park on any given day/night etc. and other picky things like that. I just prefer for the insurance company to be competitive, understand that I have looked after my car in the past and will continue to look after it in the future, and just insure my car. Just Car have always been a pleasure to deal with and that is what I value most about them. Others experience with them may vary however...

I have had other insurance companies ask me 20 questions about where the car will be parked during the day, at night, how often its driven, whether its driven on weekends, and all kinds of things like this. What I dont like about this is that the company is then kind of dictating when I am able to drive and where. I just want to pay my premium and expect to be fully covered - even if by chance I've happened to leave the car parked on the road out the front of a friends place. I will always make sure the immobiliser is active and the car is locked - which is a fair requirement for insurance, but after that I would hope to be covered by insurance.

I hope that makes sense. I dont hate any particular insurance company. Its just one of those things that you never know how much you should be trusting your insurance. And I guess you never really find out until something goes wrong and you need to make a claim.

EDIT: Please dont take my dealings with shannons as anything but one persons's experience with them. I know people who have called them and said it was just like any other insurance company. I believe I just got some guy having a bad day or something...my bad luck. :action-smiley-069:
