R33 Skyline $14,500 slightly negotiable

Interested in swaps, or swaps + cash, or just plain cash, or swap for a couple cheaper vehicles/ vehicle & bike.

NSW preffered as cost of rego transfer/transport is not worth it usually.

No stupid offers though thanks it's just wasting our time.

sounds great and looks great. NSW Rego'd, Complied Again This Year For Rego

we are located near Wagga NSW which is about 5 hrs Sydney 6 hrs Melbourne. About 1.5 hrs from Albury/Wodonga. It has been well maintained as owner is a mechanic and fitter.

Low priced to hopefully meet the current market.

Don't lowball us too much guys as this is a regretful sale and have reduced it so much already, and we would rather keep it in the shed than sell it too much below what it's worth.

Call 02 6929 1128 or mob: 0400 483 315 for more information.

I've seen this thing close up and it looks a really tidy unit. Sounds good too. Never seen it getting flogged around town either (A rarity in Skylines out here).

A drive home from Wagga in your new line would be awesome too, so give a fella a hand - and grab a bargan. :P

Thanks for that mate, yeah Jeff is very careful not to flog things, he really looks after his vehicles.

Take care.

updated ad. please read through. if you want any more info, please call us as Jeff knows more but is computer illiterate so I have tried to write what I know about the car, I didn't know that it has a series 2 motor or anything like that, so hopefully this will help you guys know what the car is worth.

The timing belt was done at 60,000kms which is when the motor was put in, unsure how many k's were on it(the motor) then, we think from memory it was about 40,000?,

the car has 13X,XXX on it now ie: we have done about 70,000 odd k's since changing timing belts etc. It can be re-done for you before buying if you want it replaced, we are happy to pay for that.. It has new front tyres on 17" tri-spokes. Look, this really is cheap for what it is, it needs a bit of work to be perfect, as all older cars do, but in good condition for a daily driven car of its age.

Thanks, Bel.

Ok, so if you are interested (all of you guys who have contacted us about this car) this will be gone after christmas, we will be swapping for a stagea if someone doesnt do anything about purchase straight away.

So if you don't want to miss out but are hanging on for finance/ insurance pricing etc as some of you have told me, chase it up this week because it is definately going.

Thanks for all those who have enquired about this car.

Bel.

    • Have you put an aftermarket oil pressure gauge on and verified your oil pressure?   Noise being on the block, on exhaust side, how high up the block does it seem to be? It could be the VCT system getting cranky, especially if it's mainly at idle, and when warm, as that'll be your lowest point for oil pressure. Could be showing that oil passages / VCT solenoid are blocking.
    • Well, hydraulic lifters will get noisy if they are dirty/fouled in some way, and exactly how that manifests will depend on exactly what schmutz is where. There is a procedure on here somewhere for dismantling and soaking/cleaning them. Replacing them with new is about 50% of the work and about 5% of the money!
    • Thanks for the reply @GTSBoy this is is a hydraulic lifter engine. Yea right i did not realise the lifters were supposed to be compressible while installed. I could push them down but i had to lean almost my while body weight on them.  I have never heard of a lifter/ lifters ticking only at hot idle and getting worse the hotter it gets. I have owned a few jdm cars with noisy lifters. This noise is slightly more subtle, it is more of a sharp gentle metalic tic than the solid and more loud tapping I've heard on lifters. I have used a metal rod, alloy tube, hose and stethoscope and could not find the source of the tick. But it appears to be loudest on the actual engine block behind the exhaust cam gear and next to the oil filter. I had mate (40 year old mechanic) go over it with me and he couldn't find it either..  Could it be a cam seal issue of some sort?  Cheers
    • This seems problematic and unlikely at the same time. Vanilla RB2Xs have hydraulic lifters. They do have "zero" clearance, but only when running with oil pressure inside them. When not running, you should be able to compress them and obtain heaps of clearance. RB26s and Neos have solid lifters. They should have ~0.3mm and ~0.5mm on the inlet and exhaust respectively. If they have zero clearance then bad things are happening. With nothing else being wrong, it would mean that the valves would be held slightly (ever so slightly) open when they are supposed to be closed and it should have all sorts of problems when running, caused by leakage in/out through the valves. Or, zero clearance can indicate severe valve seat recession. None of it is good. Have you used a piece of hose as a stethoscope to try to localise the noise?
