Glue Removal

The previous owner of my car has previously had some kind of phone/cup holder glued to the dash just underneath the airbag, and has obvisouly removed it before sale. Of course there is still dried up glue where the device used to be which is really ugly. The glue has dried to look and feel like a clear plastic, and a couple of people have mentioned that it looks like araldite. I've tried the standard citrus-based goo remover from the supermarket but it had no effect. Does anyone have any other ideas on how I could remove it without damaging/marking the dash?

metho, or first try metho diluted in a little bit of water, if that doesnt work go straight metho.
