I actually am thinking that maybe we shouldn't compare the prices of r32's to r33's. The cars do look quite different and because of that I'd guess that people will prefer one or the other...and therefore for many people the r33 did not REPLACE the r32, it is actually almost competing with it...hence the now similar pricing...

this is just a theory of mine but I'd be interested to know if anyone else thinks this could be a factor... :P

in general, the buyer market will determine the prices anyway - so when selling cars this fact can be quite depressing. From my (very limited) experience, you need to price your car at a bargain price to sell it, not necessarily what you feel its really worth. ;)

as title says, why are gtst r32's that expensive?

i've been looking around on carsales, autotrader, etc and for one in decent condition you're looking at about 12grand.

i mean sure you get good performance, reliability(?) etc but at the end of the day you're still getting a 13+ year old import with 100,000ks+ and a fairly old engine, interior etc.

their prices are about the same as r33 gtst's :P

don't get me wrong i love r32's but they are overpriced aren't they? i think they should be in the same price bracket as s13's. coz these days you can get a 180sx with the sr20det and in decent condition for around 8-9grand.....

hmmmmmmm

I like the fact that they r still as dear as r33s.. its simple really, everyone loves 32s.. They may be older but they are more appealing to alot of people (not saying i dont like r33s.. cause with the right things done they can look so porn)

I still think 12k is cheap for a 32.. If u want one mate, just gonna have 2 wait around til u can find 1 u like for the right price.. there are bargains out there. Just gotta be patient. :P

ps. i still think they're overpriced :(

i guess i'll always think that of em unless i get 1 and see why...... :ninja:

If you are not prepared to pay what people are asking for r32's then ofcourse you think they are overpriced.. but other people are paying those prices so it just seems they aren't a possiblilty for you.. r32's are not as common as 33's and some people like the history associated with the r32.

Im in japan atm and i saw a car dealership's advert which had the following 2 cars which were both in original condition:

R32 GTR Vspec II 10,000km 3,700,000 Yen $40,000 AUD (approx)

R34 GTR Vspec 20,000km 4,200,000 Yen $46,000 AUD (approx)

The r32 has a lot of respect here, my friend and I were talking to a guy who pulled up in a porcshe gt3 rs with volk rims (lol) and we were saying how nice his car was, then he asked what we drove and my mate told him about his r32 gtr and he asked if it was there cause he really wanted to see it, he says he loves the 32... that is why prices are higher than some people may think is resonable, because others will pay it!

Comes down to supply and demand i reckon.

The market is full of r33's and everyone is competing to sell theirs off. The majority of import dealers dont even stock 1-2 r32's. IMO due to the competition this is why r33's are so cheap.

When people are looking to buy a r32, they are not so much keen on the power, as a r33 is a much stronger car, but rather tend to look at the other aspects of the car in terms of its quality.

The price is probably high because the majority of owners are car enthusiasts and take care/respect of the car.

Or you can pick a cheap thrashed r33 owned by some muzza who was looking for massive power and minimum cost, hence avoided the r32 due to its weaker nature.

I paid $13k for a freshly imported r32 (1993 October) and would have easily paid more.

Cheers

This is all my opinion so i may be wrong :(

sure, there are times when i see a clean r33, i think maybe i should have gone the r33, but it comes down to your budget and your personal preference.

A clean stock r32 = $12k

A clean stock r33 = $16-17k

Now if you spend $4k ontop of the stock r32 to match the stock r33 price, you might have some interesting results hehe

lol its not like i'm complaining about the prices because i want to get a 32. its just something i've noticed lately while looking at skylines for sale and thought it was a bit weird.... :ninja:

but yeah r32 is definately up there as an option for my next car :(

I'd take the r34 8 days of the week. the R32 has travelled 10,000kms in how many years...its still that old.

And i'm sure he could afford an immaculate r32 GTR as his daily if he was driving a porsche gt3 :ninja:

At the end of the day everyone likes to think that R32's are some massively rare import, but look around, these days they aren't far behind R33's...and R34's are following suit.

Adz quoted some interesting statistics from the SAU-VIc memberships....the most represented car in the club were black R32's from memory :thanks:

Anyone got an RB20DET for sale? looking to do a transplant into my boat...will trade my 25DET + cash your way :(

NOTE: Jokes. The 32 crowd love to dish it out, but they dont seem to take it back too well :w00t:

Just from my limited experience, if you like the R33 shape specially S2, there are some really good bargains to be had for 96 model . Got mine for 16.5K in june.......and havent look back.

Dont know about most people but there are Very Good condition R33 out there !!!.....I too love the R32 GTR....GTST hmmmm.....i guess depend on diferent people.......

mine's stock... :( honest. its black too just like yours.

Hrmm, I think you have missed my point, but it doesn't matter... If you are happy with your car then thats all that matters..i was just giving my opinion as you were yours

I think at the end of the day this is true, if you are happy it doesnt matter.

I recently paid $9k for a HR31 coupe, a lot of people would think Im crazy as I could get an R32 for that price but every man and his dog has one, you see a 2 door 31 and most people go 'I didnt even know they existed' and for the $9k I got something with all the suspension done, exhaust, FMIC, and in immaculate condition. Not one single oil leak and I haven't had a single issue with it.

I would happily pay $13k for a mint R32 if it had full susp, tune, wheels and I knew it had a good history and wasn't going to do a bottom end in 6 months time.

how so? Do i have an aftermarket turbo? and what ever else you've done....dont think so :O

And if you're referring to DECA..Street tyres

My car is as Nissan built it except for the exhaust....and i was on street tyres after my blistered semi slicks/burnout tyres fell apart. The road tyres actually had more grip  I would guess your car is more modified them mine :O

Got paid out 24k 3 years ago for my r32, its now ins with shannons for 20k :)

The only thing i want from a r33 is the gearbox rofl.

Not the maxima interior, the extra kgs or the magna looks.

Also stock the r32 has the better power to wieght ratio

Enjoy whale boys

I was originally looking for a 32 - they seemed to be around the 12-13k mark for a decent one and in some cases 16k for a modded exmple!!!

I found my 33 for 11k - not a problem with it, had a few mods and i havent looked back. More room, nicer shape (IMO), more potential - its a better all round car (IMO)

There seems to be much more demand for the 32's and thats probably why the owners charge like wounded bulls for them

what is the deal with 180's they are worth more then series 2 r33's!!!!??

most i have seen are around 12-15, i know you can get them for 8-9 but the ones i have seen havent even been modded, just a clean turbo example nothing special, AND BEFORE 96?

crazy shiat!
