Im not trying to be smart or anything but i found myself chasing numbers as well. SiR_RB
i duno if this is correct or not, but if u hav an adjustable cam gear on the inlet side, do you loose your variable cam timing? R31Nismoid
Some people have found a gain, some have not, and some have gone backwards So take each case as it comes. IMO - There is nothing to be gained from cam gears on the RB25 with stock cams I ran my car with a stock head over 300rwkw with response/power as good as people with cams/cam gears and whatever other fruit you can think of. So take it as you will Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/146475-cam-gear-questions-no00ob-question/#findComment-2736301 Share on other sites
tridentt150v
I also doubt you will get any value out of a cam pulley without an aftermarket ecu/pfc. You can throw $$$$ at it and it likely won't do squat unless you can tune for it, and for that you need a pfc/haltech/wolf etc. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/146475-cam-gear-questions-no00ob-question/#findComment-2736455 Share on other sites
Abo Bob
I thought it was well known that there was gains to be had from an exhaust cam gear on R33's stock cams, aftermarket ecu or not. You retard it up to 4 degrees. Generally cam gears can be used to change the characteristics of the power. Ie you can swap some top end for earlier boosting and more mid range power. It's up to you, the tuner and the gains/losses involved whether this is worthwhile for you. I have 260 odd rwkw and I think I would be happy with another 100rwkw but then again I said that about 250rwkw when I was at 190. As for specs, they all do the same thing. Get a cheap one I say. R31Nismoid
Yeah, they are cheap But i've seen a few loose power and some get nothing out of it. And then i was ok. Each to thier own, by all means give it a shot dude As you said, they arent expensive. Just the tuning time. Also - just get your stock ones modified to become adjustable. Might not look "flash" but work the same way and half the price of HKS items Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/146475-cam-gear-questions-no00ob-question/#findComment-2736910 Share on other sites
