Rb25det S1 Or S2

hey i bought an import motor and now thinking about putting cams into it, i was wondering, how do i know if its s1 or s2???

what differences are there?

on the back of the cam covers

If there is a little black box (ignitor module) its S1

If there is no black module its S2

There are 2 different sized ignitors... Whats the go there? earlier and later model S1?

any other ways, mine has no cover or ignitor on it

different plugs on the throttle body

The long motors are the same so the cams will fit both motors.

very late R33s(Rare)and R34s need different cams.

its pretty much just the motor

this is why i cannot find any info as to what it is

when you buy cams they ask what series it is, so what is the difference in cams????

Are the cam covers black or bare alloy? S1 has black covers while S1.5/S2 have bare alloy covers. About the only obvious difference I can think of.

S1 dont have black cam covers.....

Pink airflow meter for series 2 different pin setup to series 1 as well.

Couldnt you fast the VIN number on the engine, surely they have it stamped on the block or something.

yeh musta been jazza mines one of the first s1 and there the normal colour alloy/goldy sorta colour

The late model motors like mine will have a black smooth crank angle sensor.They are really an R34 motor and the sensor has a different drive on it to the series 1& 2.

yes it has alloy coloured cam covers, i thought they all did

so does anyone know the sifference between s1 and s2 cams????
