Head Gasket

hey guys, i was just wondering, exactly how does one decide what size metal head gasket to go with. i know that generally the more boost u want to run the thicker the head gasket size sould be.

btw iam asking for an rb26 with a T04R, looking to boost roughly between 1-1.3 bar

id be interested to know this also, with a similar set up but with rb30 block, ill wanna be chasing 450rwkw. will a 1.2mm metal gasket be fine or should i go 1.4mm?

i was thinking around the lines of around 1.5-1.6, but the thing is, i don't want to guess i would like to know for sure. iam sure the proper way to figure things out isn't just picking one and going with it. there must be some kind of calculation of some sort.

1.5 will be lower compression= more lag but can run more boost.

1.2 will be higher compression=more torque down low off boost but not as much boost,

higher comp has more chance of detonation, but its all in the tune,

with a 1.6mm you shouldnt notice the drop off boost a lot i reckon you have a winner there

looks like i might go to a 1.5mm... how much more lag would the 1.5mm produce, and how much boost could u run with the 1.2mm

also if your putting forgies in then consider whether they alter the comp ratio i know my wiseco's go are 8.4:1 thats in a rb25det
