^^ Yep its certainly not cheap mate, there are some guys out there that make mint carbon replica's anyways and look the goods. Only difference is you dont get the w*nk factor when you tell people that you have an "original z-tune bonnet" .

If it looks the part and your happy with it why not

yea i doubt i would have got a vsII bonnet unless the one i got poped up for the price it did.

not a huge fan of the z/s-tune style bonnets, i just like the clean look of the vsii bonnet, and wasnt real keen on any copys due to any fitment problems... im very picky with stuff like that on my car, and i have heard of some bad copys.. although im sure there are plenty of good ones out there... but its all personal choice really..

weight saving changing to carbon is barely worth mentioning, its only the cooling duct and styling that you do it for.. so 3.5-4k is too much really i think.

Anthony's pretty much right, I think Terry will be here soon to corroborate the cost and process of fitting the NACA duct, but it was a damn fine job that was done on the car. Being a black car, you couldn't really tell any difference from the OEM item. On the OEM you can see the outline of the carbon duct, which stands out on any other colour (like Anthony's).

I did have a close up of the duct around somewhere but here's what our 'replica' bonnet looked like:

Nice!

Your R34 GTR looks mint!

Just by looking at the other R34 GTR = Z-Tune front bar / Bonnet / Nismo Side skirts and rear pods.

Volk GT-C and what look to be a larger caliper upgrade... Any other mods?

Ta mate. Yep the non-V Black now lives in Toowoomba with a new owner.

The Nur above actually has a Nismo front bar, with the R tune (Z tune) bonnet and the rest as you say. GT-Cs have just been sold; I'm currently using the LMGT4s in 19 x 10.5 +15 size. She has a few mods, standard N1 engine and turbos, Motec M800, Nismo plumbing and titanium twin exhaust, ARC filter, trust intercooler, Nismo plenum, Jun cams and cam gears, HKS EVC 6 running about 20psi, and the 380mm brake kit. A few other nice extras like a torqline CTG carbon prop shaft, Ikeya lower links, Ohlins DFV coilovers plus Yamaha chassis dampers.

Agree with this Terry, although this spot is better in the morning opposed to the afternoon as the sun is over the ocean and you dont get the shadows from nearby buildings... but they turned out ok after all.. pretty happy with them

Ah yes!

How could I have not seen the air duct next to the indicator.

That's how I tell it's a Nismo and of course a closer look at the pic LOL!

As there is not much that needs to be done to unleash the power of a R34 GTR Nur, that is a nice list of mods there, welldone!

How do you find the CTG carbon prop shaft? Improved the acceleration?

ha nice one mate... yours is looking very nice also.

also, keen to get these meets in newcastle happening, whenever they do, let me know.

Cheers,

Yes, the 3" NACA duct cost $45 + gst + post from QLD = $62. Bought from Ken Lowe Racing.

Peter from Bodyformaero was impressed at how my painter was able to attach the plastic duct to the aluminium bonnet and not form expansion/contraction cracks on or around the painted duct. The painter used a resin between the two materials prior to undercoat.

I think you need to sort out your own budget as to how much you'd want to pay a painter (& cut that hole). When it's placed in the correct spot, there's no intrusion into the bonnet reinforcement underneath.

Hope this helps...

I feel a little out of place in here compared to some of these cars, but seeing as the Photography section is one of the only sections I am yet to post in, I want in! Unfortunately most of my good photo's are a bit out of date :(

You may have just decided me dude... I've been tossing up between so many colours, but my original idea was metallic gunmetal. So I think that comment just reassures me that it would look killer :D Still so much to do before it's done though... Still looks horrible to me :/

    • GTSboy, thank you again. i’ve been reading all the other SAU RB25 vacuum line threads and you have the utmost patience for people asking “where do my vacuum lines go”. it’s appreciated. i did also enlist a few other RB guys local to me.  i would like to run 5 to 4. turbo pressure side to wastegate actuator. i would like to run 3 to 1. power steering air valve line to intercooler outlet. (this is how it was previously). i was told 2 is the bleed port for the boost solenoid - which i’m not running - so should be capped.   anyone see any problems with that?
    • So yes. All of them. Something like 98% of all fuel in the USA has 10% ethanol: https://afdc.energy.gov/fuels/ethanol-fuel-basics It's labelled as like, AKI, 87, 91, 93 with an E10 or E5 or E15 label on the pump. At a certain point, it's not just "E10" instead of 91. It is 91, 95, 98, and all of them have 10% Ethanol in them. You can also get E85 and E30 which is why you do see some people rolling around with E30 tunes in them.
    • Thanks for the response. This is an 04 EP3 Type R. JDM spec. Fairly certain they're just basic BC racing coils. I do plan to keep as the ride quality on stock I've been told is pretty meh given Sydney roads. If I were to go down that avenue, does NSW require them to be a certain spec (close to original) etc?
    • Should have asked what is the car?
    • I've had two super conflicting experiences with blue slips. My 30 year old E39 waltzed through with no issues but my brother in law was knocked back on 12 y/o 3 series due to wiper blades and some cracking in a control arm bush.  What kind of coil overs? Do you want to keep them after?  If it was me I'd get some dirt cheap shocks and springs from eBay or scumtree. Not ideal but will get you over the line and might even be less than $1k.
