I'm in the middle of pulling apart my blown stock turbo to figure out why its dead... and just cause I want to see whats inside. The shaft still turns but it has a fairly major bearing noise.

Sofar I've removed the compressor wheel and the snap ring underneath. Theres a plate that I thought would be secured in by the snap ring but its somehow stuck... I can rotate it around the shaft but it won't unscrew. It won't pull out either, it seems like its sealed in there.

Anyone got any ideas?

I think theres a bolt head on the side of the bearing housing I think next to one of the water coolant holes . Try unscrewing that and see what happens . I think its a bearing preload adjustment screw but it may be retaining something as well .

Its so long since I've seen one of those in bits .

Cheers A .
