Back, yes. My old rims were 18x9 +45 on the back, still heaps of clearance

Front, no, will hit the upright. I had a few mm clearance with 18x8 +38 with 235/40R18s. Your rim will sit in another 8mm and the tyre will more than likely rub on the upright.

GTR offset rims usually hit the guard...

Had some 17x9 +20 on the front and they only just tucked into my flared guards (flared 15-20mm) and was running 3deg camber.

So yeah, you'd have to be lucky to make em fit...

You'd probly need to find 8.5 +32. That should fit into the stock guards, maybe need to lip them

Im not so worried about the wheel hitting the guards, i can have them modifed and or fit gtr front guards.

Im more worred about fitting a wheel with the wrong offset stuffing up the handling of the car, ie if u take where the center of the wheel is stock u want to increase it the same amount each side of this line.

eg no good having a wheel that goes out a few inches but only goes in 1 inch if u get me.

Offset is such a stupid measurement imo

cheers fellas

This means you want the same offset as stock. i.e. +40

Offset is measured from where the wheel mounts to the hub to the centre of the rim.

The fact is, you can't have a +40 rim with a decent width. There is nothing wrong with having a rim of different offset, increases track and you can fit wider rims on.

I'm not sure why you'd want to keep the offset the same.

I think that's what you're getting at, correct me if I'm wrong

I get more confused by the second.

I have heard etc, that if u put a wider wheel on and it goes futher out than it does in, compared to the stock wheel (if that makes sense) u will have problems with bump steer and stuff.

I want to run 8.5s or 9s if i have to go gtr offset in the future. If i can do this and have the car handle the way it should i have no problem modifying the guards to get them fitting.

its just when ur buying nismo's u dont wanna funk up :P

Nah, bumpsteer is caused by suspension geometry issues, usually caused by excessive lowering. You'll be fine, get the right offset, probly around +30 and you'll be fine to run that size. Remember, the smaller the number, the further it sticks out of the guard.

    • See, that button sounds like perfection Duncan! My eyes really don't like light shining at them from a dash when I'm driving. Being part red colourblind, I've found for most cars that I can change colours on, I set everything to red, so my eyes see the elast amount of colour! I miss normal gauges in cars
    • bro, knowing the Japanese in  the 90's, i wouldn't be surprised if they shared components across their model lineup.
    • Maaaan so many "little" things  i rly hope my old RB20 would be "ok" and not too bad. I try to learn what and what not do i need. I look at crossmember at it looks different...even parts numbers are different. Wiring and all that i rly do not know...yeah someone mentioned the speedo thing. On that yoke clip. I rly do not know what can and cant be done "custom" so that is why iam asking to know and not be suprised 🙂  I know what it looks like
    • Oh, there's also the gearbox crossmember which will probably be different between the small box and the big box, and the wiring loom will probably need to be modified, because the plugs for the switches etc, will probably be different. And I think the speedo on the small box R34s is from somwhere stupid, like the diff, possibly, so you'd need to work out what needs to be done about that (assuming it is different). I think the thing you need to realise is that the front end of that yoke is a large hollow tube with splines on the inside that mates with the splines on the box's output shaft. It is a dedicated thing - not available "aftermarket". They were made to suit that box, by the car's OEM.
