Are we so sure that this wasn't a pre-existing condition? I feel that any stronger pressure plate would've brought this fault to the fore?

yeah agreed that any combo of stock (or even worse standard lightened) flywheel combined with a pressure plate high higer clamping, and a more agressive compound friction plate is a bad idea. it's not a problem limited to JB clutches, it's just that 2 very big failures were using them, and a lot of the kits he does seem to re-use the standard flywheel. By all account his clutch kits sound good, but I'd advise on insisting on a new flywheel that's all.

I need a new clutch soon, it sounds like someone threw a bolt in mine :P, I get this light rattling sound while pulling off out of first....Anyway.

I was thinking about a Nismo Super Coppermix Twin Plate which will cost me about $1800-$1900 from Japan and can handle 670ps. Is it worth just getting a JB single for a grand-ish instead?

I may get a new fly too.

I've recently being through the process of getting a new clutch when rebuilding my engine, having a hks twin plate and then a exedy button style.

I considered the jim berry special but went for the new exedy range costing 2500 and its great to suit a 500rwhp gtr

on the other hand my mate with a very fast evo spent a third of that with jim and his clutch seems nice and feels stock as

HKS/Nismo = makes everything for every car

Jim Berry = exclusively makes clutches and has done for close to 30 years

That's the difference. I don't understand why people feel the need to buy a brand name component when it isn't polished, annodised or billet and you'd never see it if it was :P

Not to mention the level of detail jim spends on making sure the clutch is just right. I mean when i was there picking up a new one, he put the pucks on infront of me, and he measures and sorts out the different thicknesses, and tripple checks the clutch for true level.

I was quite impressed :P
