JAGR33 - ahh yeah now i remember you saying you nearly bought my car...

Yeah Bens a wizard

Are you planning any mods?

Ferni, you must be thinking of somebody else, I already had my GTR when Dean was selling his....

Yeah there are 'a few' mods lined up for the near future, don't wanna say too much right now.....

No way man... about 6500-7000rpm launch...

Ahh okay fair enuf. I've done pretty much all the mods I can to the car without upgrading the turbos (pretty much same as you except I have a powerFC), and I would be very interested to see how it goes on the 1/4 mile now. I'm getting 210kw @ all wheels on a dyno dynamics on 1.2 bar....

When I first ran the car relatively stockish I would do 6500/7000rpm launches and it wouldn't bog down and would launch beautifully, but now with more power and a twin plate I get some wheels spin in launch and also shifting into 2nd. Do you get this as well?

I'm hoping for a flat 12 too... :)

Yeah changing the clutch to a nismo twin plate was a big difference to the standard one, bites much harder, causing wheelspin and chirping between gears....

You should be able to get a flat 12, let us know how you go!!!

Cheers

Yes the clutch has made a huge difference, its grips immediately... having a bit of wheelsping is okay I guess, I'm hoping it means that it won't be such a shock to the drivetrain.

Will post my results here when I run :)

Those are pretty impressive power outputs and impressive times.. i'm keen to take my car to the strip asap.

I have hks cat back exhaust, hks pods, hks intercooler, boost tweak to about 14psi by Ben (racepace), but i'm only pulling 203kw. Hope i can do 12's ...hahah  Looks like i have to get Ben to work it more.

ferni> i was planning to check out dean's car.

still confuses me...i have a good clutch and get just enough spin to get the turbo's spooling and bam..I'm gone, chirp second and sometimes enven 3rd (on 17's, never on 18's)

the runs feel smooth, full bosst the whole run and no 12 flats for me......sniffle sniffle

I have recently bought a r32 GTR

I have removed the boost restrictor

You guys all think it is already a 12 second car?

Its got twin air pods and full 3 inch HKS exhaust?

Will I break my gearbox if I dumped the clutch 100s of times I am scared it will break.

With these mods and a 15 year old car you think the gearbox will still handle the power?

WIll I LUNCH my box at all on 8000rpm Launches?

nicknismo,

From what you are saying, you are hooking up well, your 60 goot times suggest this, and having a good clean run. Unfortunately your best mph suggests you do not have enough power to better your ETs a great deal. How agressive are you with your gear changes...?

That 240kw dyno run might have been in shoot out mode and/or the tuner might have pegged it back a little for safety.

IGOAPE,

I've never heard of anyone breaking their box, running the factory turbos.

Stock turbos:

Exhaust, Filter, Clutch, (removed boost restrictor)

12.2 @ 112

Exhaust, Filter, Clutch, Oil cooler, ECU, FPR, 18psi

11.6 @ 118

(turbo did not last long afterwards.. not recommended to run over 14psi.)

As above, all my R32's that have had stock turbos, exhaust, filter, and the restrictor removed have run consistent low 12's. With a stock clutch it killed it quick however.

If it's not doing that.. then there is either something wrong, or you are driving like an old woman. :(

Stock turbos are well designed and have minimal lag.. that you will loose when going to a steel wheel upgrade like the T28s which will not improve 1/4 times unless they are pushed harder.

Okay lads,

Just got back from WSID (Wednesday 31st March) from a private test session I had booked. The R33 GTR ran 11.82 at 115mph (1.74 60ft) after I made a few tweaks to it. Here is the gear I was running.

turbos - stock set at 1.25-bar

intercooler - stock

injectors - stock

fuel pump - stock

engine - stock

ignition - stock

ECU - Impul (non adjustable)

air filters - HKS pods

Exhaust - HKS dumps and 4-inch (by Liverpool exhaust)

Cam gears - HKS

Boost controller - Turbo-XS bleed valve

Fuel - VP Racing Motorsport-103 (105RON)

clutch - Nismo twin plate

Power output - 249kW at all four on Premier Auto's dyno dynamics dyno - same day

tyres - Falken FK-415 275/30 - 19-inch

suspension - Whiteline 24mm rear sway bar, rear bushes for control arms and cradle mounts.

There you have it lads - a genuine 11 second pass with a near stock GTR, which included full trim and bloody heavy 19-inch wheels! Am I stoked?

HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!!

See it all on the Car Crazy DVD released in May.

too agressive a gear change and you could end up with my current expensive problem.... 3-4th gear syncro failure :(

my rev limiter launches resulted in lower 60ft times, but I think part of that may have been from heat soak due to back to back runs.

Geez 18psi boost??? that's far too much for stock turbos...

Unfortunately one of my turbos decided to call it a day on the friday night at calder, which probably explains why i couldn't break an 11, and also on sau dyno day on sat was surging and stuggling to crack 200rwkws...

It must be really tired now because as soon as my car hits boost, the power is not there like it used to be...

Oh well, looks like the new turbos i got are going on much quicker than i thought!!!! :)

I'm a girl?? Why don't you put your money where your mouth is and take your 'veilside' GTR to calder, and let's see what numbers you can come up with!!!

Hey I would have had a good chance if one of my turbos didn't pack it in.....

12.000 @ 114mph is oh so close to an eleven, I should have taken out the sub box, spare tyre and jack, that would have done it....

Your a cunny funt :)
