hey ppl just wondering if anyone here is using nexen n2000 tyres because i have them on mine, were brand new when i bought the car about a mth ago, want to know what ppl think of the grip levels on them as i have found that they dont grip too well especially in the wet. however i have been playing with the pressures and noticed when i got the car they were set at 35-36 psi so i decreased the pressures to 32psi and the car seems to feel much better to drive and seems to grip heaps better. has anyone noticed anything like this?

I have Nexen N3000's (235/40/R18's) on my R34 which were on the car when I bought it.

Seems reasonable so far, what little rain driving I've done they've held up fine.

Maybe not the tyre I'd pick as a replacement but good enough for the moment.

I had them On a stock R33 they were okish in the dry but in the Wet and I mean standing water not just a damp road they were bloody dangerous.

Then they went on a R32 with 200rwkw and they would spin in first and second gear as the boost hit. Then with 250rwkw they would spin all the way to 4th so at that time they went in the bin!

All up I would give them 2 out of 10

I've got these too. In the dry they seem to be pretty good, and are very good for durability. They seem to be a hard compound tyre.

In the wet i don't trust them. I lost grip a couple times just driving normally around corners, mind you it was the first wet day for a while, so that probably had an impact aswell. But in the wet i take extra extra care.

All in all i think they're an ok tyre. I might try to go for something else next time though, something with better grip i'd say. Even for the dry even though they do grip good, i reckon others would grip better. Really depends on road surface to.

I bought the N3000 as I couln't my normal tyres straight away.. so far so good.. although havn't really had alot of wet weather to try them out (255/17/40 & 235/17/45)

Only cost me $660 fitted for all four tyres so I wasn't expecting the quality of the intercontinentals which I usually buy - but definitely ok so far.

i have them on my 33. just 225/50/16s. i think mine are a bit old and have gone hard. they have been sitting under the house for 6 months. i just put 2 back on the rear and they are a bit slippery. i am going to back the car into the garage in the next few days and do a decent skid to try to wear through some of the hard stuff and get to some slightly softer rubber underneath.

they were on the car when i first got it and they were better than they are now. then i put a set of hankook 205/55/16s on (that i got dirt cheap, and they were on stock skyline rims - which my other rims are also) and they gripped a little better in the dry, and a lot better in the wet, although the nexans that were on the back were the worst of the 4 tyres, so that didn't help in the wet. the hankooks were slightly hardened as well, as i think they had been sitting for a while before i bought them.

Word of wise Run around 32/34 PSI any more your going to get uneven tread wear (Center water sweep Strip of your tire will wear faster).

The Nexens Are a entry level performance tire if u want a good tire spend the extra 30 or 40 dollars a tire & get some thing like the BFG's or Yokos.

Knowing people in the tire trade the nexens do not score very high with most of them bar being a good cheap tire...

now i have dropped the pressures to 32psi all round they grip a hell of a lot better and the car feels alot better to drive and they even seem a little quieter, will be interesting to see how the go in the wet. the pressures were diferant in 3 of the 4 tyres when i checked them the other day. i had 35psi on the right, 36psi on the left front and 33psi left rear, i think this had alot to do with the grip issues. my r33 is running pretty much stock 9.5 psi with a turbotech boost controller and has a 3 inch exhaust, so hasnt had much done.

    • You see R34 GTRs listed for 200-300k are they really selling for these prices? Kinda seems like the same ones listed all the time.

    • Well, turns out not a lot happened from back then to now, between life again, and working on 3 separate other cars (only one of which was mine, and will now be departing the household soon).   So I decided with the whole "don't go outside, it's a cyclone!" Turning in to being not a whole lot, I ventured down to the garage, found a couple of water leaks in the shed (the main one I've already fixed), and then ended up "stuck" as it started pouring rain, and I didn't want to walk back inside in the pouring rain. This meant I ended up taking a look at the Skyline, and trying to work out what past Matt had been upto. I retraced a few things out from scratch, added the rest of the power feeds in that I needed for the indicators, and headlights. Double checked I'd wired a few things up correctly (and worked out how I wired a few things to begin with), updated my sparse notes. Added one of the ground points. Oh, and got really really dusty, as the car is quite dirty. Wrote up quickly what should be left for me to do with the wiring too. Adding the below photos more for my records than anything else. I need to make myself a proper book for the car that details everything, and how I've done it, but for now, this is my records... The third image is my most important one for me, and I need to draw it out into a proper schematic eventually. The last photo is my re-written list, I'd have put it on the white board, except I had to take the white board down to fix one of the water leaks.
