I think it goes on the end of your shirt sleeves (long sleeves) to pin them together and look good

Cufflinks when coupled correctly with a business shirt can have quite an effect. Example; black shirt with shiny cufflinks always get attention - people actually stop and look at what they actually are.

They go in place of the buttons on your cuffs...
