Hey man, yeah i htought maybe rich and retard? but even on stock boost :S

I have a SAFC NEO comming but now think i should have spent the extra on a PFC>

I have a mate who offered to let me try his PFC to see if that sorts anyhting out, ill let u know how i go in a day or two after we have tried it.

The hesitation in mine is really sever, overtaking commodores is impposibble and imbarassing.

Mine is very noticable. But opens up again after 5000RPM.Due to a defect i have a standard zorst on.But get my other one back tomorrow.Ill let you know if this does anything also. But yeh very interested in the ECU swap.Keep me posted.

CHEERS

perhaps someone could donate a pfc from a car with similar mods and a richish tune, see what happens. i wouldnt try it for too long though with the wrong ecu thats just asking for trouble. it need only be a 5 minute swap. If it works its your ecu, if not, its a sensor or boost problem.

really does sound like management, but management does some funny things with the wrong sensor readings so it may not be the ecu.

thats all i got guys sorry. Maybe MANWHORE can help nytsky out your both in syd

After i got my exhaust back today(fujitsubo 3inch) it felt alot better. But can still feel a little bit of hesitation between 3 and 5k.Alot smoother but still there.

Im in the process of getting an FC(i bloody hope) so ill get it on the dyno and find out for sure.

hi guys got it fixed yesterday

on the dyno made 128 rwhp

fixed-

replaced fuel pressure regulator

replaced airflow sensor ( the 3 i tried previously where dodgy)

for some reason timming is quiet advanced because hte car didnt want to do any hting on the standard base timing? dont know why?

After tune made 270.9 rwhp or 202 rwkw ! very happy!

The air fuel ratio is still very rich according to the tuner, Tuner says when my SAFC neo comes should be good for over 300 rwhp.

Total mods are-

-walbro fuel pump

-metal intake pipe.

-pod filter

-boost 10psi

-dump back exuast

-Delta fin fmic

-stock turbo and stock ecu

-oil catch can

Pretty happy with tune so far

Holy crap thats a huge increase.Where did you get it done? And how much?

How did he tune it exactly if you done have a SAFC or power FC to tune it with?

well she definatly is not a stock turbo, especialy on an R33. I have just managed to squize 200rwkw out of mine at 10psi with all the mods and SAFC II. that is at 10psi, i guess top would be about 210rwks if all goes well at 12 psi. what boost are you running.

You sure those figures are at the wheels. not at the crank?

He got such a increase beacue the car was running so fcked and had to fix the stuffed things.

For some reason timming is in an advanced position bacuse the car wouldnt do much wiht stock base timing, the air fuel ratio is still way rich. the power figures where at the wheels and as far as i can see its a stock turbo. Unless its had some sort of highflow job done to it??

I hear of other people wiht good nick r33 with similar mods cracking the 200rwkw mark???

Im running 10psi boost

Got it done at FIST performance at wacol. Onyl work shop open after new years who would take my car with such late notice- i was not expecting the excellent service they gave me.

He basically just fixed my problems, u cant tune much with a stock ecu except base timming and make sure its all running ok.

i dont thin you have a high flow, if you had a highflow running 10psi your stock ecu would shit itself and you would be back to 128 or worse. 200kw is about right, its not really a number that means anything after all, actual figure could be + or - 50 but who cares, whatever that figure really is, you just doubled it. the increase is the only figure you can take from a dyno other than air/fuel ratio.

congratulations on finding the problems and having a car in top shape

i hope mine does that one day

i got 204kw with my stock turbo and ecu on 11psi. any higher and it hit R&R. my mate has 1 with 175kw and mine feels heaps better. before mine had the cooler put on and only had a cat back exhaust and was running 9psi it was a dead match for another mates car that had full exhaust, cooler and 11psi. i know that my turbo is stock, but i just think that my engine is healthy, and we had made a few "modifications" to get more power out of it.

now i have a remapped ecu and am running 13-14psi (still on stock turbo). while trying to sort out an idle missfire issue i put the old ecu back in and went back to 11psi. it felt like a grandma car. it was so boring. so i stuck the remaped ecu back in and wound the boost back up and it went back to being a fun car. i'm going to be getting a safc some time just to trim up the AFRs to get even more power. the remapped ecu is leaner than the stock ecu, but is still down around 11.4 at WOT at high rpm.

    • Damn it, I was at work last night, and stayed in a room there during the storm with the car outside, but undercover, I just went downstairs and well....there was a large steel locker that has come from some place last night, it wasn't anywhere I could see yesterday, and yeap, it landed on the fraking car....of course it did..... LOL So, I'll need to take it back for paint and panel, luckily it was only the boot that took the hit, so it could have been worse Serves me right for staying at work and getting on the cans with some of the boys
    • Yeah, really happy with how it all turned out As for aftermarket lip, nah, I'm not really a fan for practically reasons on a street car that gets driven everywhere  I did have the full lower kit on my 2015 STI, but found the front lip scrapped alot, even at stock 4x4ish ride height As the NC sits now, with the lowest point of the car at 110mm, so just legal, some steep driveways and steep speed humps will still "just" scrap those little plastic OEM air dam thingies on the undertray just before the front wheels
    • Here's one I help build and tuned a decade ago, Garrett  GTX3071R Gen 1, T3 twin scroll 0.83 rear housing. Went from larger 272 cams down to smaller Tomei Poncams to help with the low end. S13 non VCT motor. Car was purpose built for the track, hence low down was the focus. Note the actual dyno chart shows lower boost, however the EBC and boost gauge showed 1.9Bar (Ignore the torque, I was young and didn't know how to set derived torque)
    • I’m doing some side developments on SR20det S13 engines, its one my hobby cars used it to compare flow capacity of some smaller size wheels. SR20det is one of another JDM legendary engines I'm sure there are plenty of SR enthusiasts on this forum, I will share results some common turbo configurations here. a quick run down of what the car is: Wide body 180sx Type X with black top engine (blue). It has: Stock bottom end Haltech 1500 ECU 5-0 motorsports trigger kit Kelford SR20DET Beehive Spring with Titanium Retainers Kelford Cams SR20DET S13 188-B 268/272 Cams G25-660 Turbocharger in T2 .64 rear housing internally gated ARP Head studs MLS head gasket 1000CC ID injectors Walbro 450L Fuel pump Front mount cooler kit JJR’s 3 inches turbo back exhaust (its too short for the 180sx it had to be extended) Pump 98 fuel Hub Dyno tune So far made 270rwkws at 22psi full boost by 4500RPM. Engine is very knock limited hence a pretty bad looking top end. From previous experiences it seems like SR20dets are happier with bigger size turbine, some thing like a GT30 would make way better top end, but on same time response is lost. It won't be a problem with S15 VCT engines. I'll be testing alternative turbine housing, turbine wheel and possibly dump pipe options for extra flow to resolve the problem and of course E85 would resolve all the issues.
    • Awesome writeup and details. Thanks for sharing the story so far. I can relate to parts of it with my previous car and some of the issues I had to deal with.
