hope you lot can help with this prob ive got.i'm fitting a ats carbon twin plate to a r33gtr,clutch was dropped off with the car all looked ok,at the time i wasnt told that you needed to fit parts from a r32 to convert to push.i had a os giken conversion and thought it would do the job,but no you cant even get the box on with the ats and the os conversion kit.the pivot bracket hits the pressure plate and it just dont fit.

the clutch that was removed was finnished and so decided to fit my own giken triple off my 32 with the conversion kit and at least it will be back on the road, but now after removing all the excess pipes from the 33 and just having one pipe from clutch master to slave and bleeding it all it still dont work properly, the conversion kit has a adjustable rod and if adjusted as you would normaly it does'nt disengage clutch and no gears can be engaged,if you wind out the rod you can get gears but when driven clutch slips.

its like the slave cyl has air in it and has'nt enough travel.

any ideas to help with this prob?????

oh and the os clutch was out of my 32 and worked with no probs.

thanks

May be able to help. Alternative if you want to run the ATS carbon would be to swap the R32 bell housing and gear onto the R33 Box, which is entirely possible. But check the bellow first.

On 33GTR's and 34's (not sure about R32) the clutch line comes down from the clutch master cylinder and into a junction box (T-piece if you prefer) From the junction box thier is a pipe leading to the flex pipe which goes into the clutch slave cylinder which in turn has it's own bleeder nipple that needs to be bled.

But before bleeding this part you need to perform a bleed at the junction box. The junction box has a big loop pipe which comes back into the junction box. I assume this loop pipe exists for extra volume of fluid or for cooling reasons. Right where this loop comes back into the junction box there is a bleeder nipple. Bleed this first, then the slave cylinder and make sure you don't run out of fluid in the resevoir as it's pretty small.

May be the solution.

i removed all the extra pipes as i have bled them before and they can be a pain,so i have run one pipe from the master to the slave and defo has no air in it,just looking for a broke 32gtr box to pull all parts off and try on the 33, with the ats twin.

Yep will work. You can seperate the bell housing from a 32 box and put onto the 33 along with the push type gear and use the 32 slave cylinder. Just make sure you get the selector ball bearing thing out before seperating the box other wise this will fall into the box.

Have you done this before? If not refer to manual.

just found a r32gtr box thats broke 3rd gear, will remove all the parts and give that a try,not done it before but have got the manual to hand(and a big hammer)

will post up later how it all goeas

    • I think you're really missing the point. The spec is just the minimum spec that the fuel has to meet. The additive packages can, and do, go above that minimum if the fuel brand feels they need/want to. And so you get BP Ultimate or Shell Ultra (or whatever they call it) making promises to clean your engine better than the standard stuff....simply because they do actually put better additive packages in there. They do not waste special sauce on the plebian fuel if they can avoid it. I didn't say "energy density". I just said "density". That's right, the specific gravity (if you want to use a really shit old imperial description for mass per unit volume). The density being higher indicates a number of things, from reduces oxygen content, to increased numbers of double bonds or cyclic components. That then just happens to flow on to the calorific value on a volume basis being correspondingly higher. The calorific value on a mass basis barely changes, because almost all hydrocarbon materials have a very similar CV per kg. But whatever - the end result is that you do get a bit more energy per litre, which helps to offset some of the sting of the massive price bump over 91. I can go you one better than "I used to work at a fuel station". I had uni lecturers who worked at the Pt Stanvac refinery (at the time they were lecturing, as industry specialist lecturers) who were quite candid about the business. And granted, that was 30+ years ago, and you might note that I have stated above that I think the industry has since collected together near the bottom (quite like ISPs, when you think about it). Oh, did I mention that I am quite literally a combustion engineer? I'm designing (well, actually, trying to avoid designing and trying to make the junior engineer do it) a heavy fuel oil firing system for a cement plant in fricking Iraq, this week. Last week it was natural gas fired this-that. The week before it was LPG fired anode furnaces for a copper smelter (well, the burners for them, not the actual furnaces, which are just big dumb steel). I'm kinda all over fuels.
    • Well my freshly rebuilt RB25DET Neo went bang 1000kms in, completely fried big end bearing in cylinder 1 so bad my engine seized. No knocking or oil pressure issue prior to this happening, all happened within less than a second. Had Nitto oil pump, 8L baffled sump, head drain, oil restrictors, the lot put in to prevent me spinning a bearing like i did to need the rebuild. Mechanic that looked after the works has no idea what caused it. Reckoned it may have been bearing clearance wrong in cylinder 1 we have no idea. Machinist who did the work reckoned it was something on the mechanic. Anyway thats between them, i had no part in it, just paid the money Curiosity question, does the oil system on RB’s go sump > oil pump > filter > around engine? If so, if you had a leak on an oil filter relocation plate, say sump > oil pump > filter > LEAK > around engine would this cause a low oil pressure reading if the sensors was before the filter?   TIA
