how about HPC coating the cooler pipes?

I don't think it would be suitable for the IC but surely wouldn't hurt on the cooler piping and may also aid in reducing inlet temps as well as achieving your stealth look in the process :D

HPC coating isnt a bad idea, but im going to call a couple radiator repair places in my area and see how much to spray the FMIC and pipping all in their thermo black paint...

cheers

would like to know how you go with this as im heading in the same direction. also bumped into a sales thread where you got urself a stagea/r34 cooler. how did that perform? are you looking for more power now hence the ic upgrade?

cheers?

yea on the stock turbo the R34 SMIC was the best investment... read my thread on the R34 SMIC upgrade...

Yes, now that im chasing more power ie. highflow turbo, injectors, fuel pump, ECU... a FMIC will be required for the 18 - 20psi boost level... im aiming for 250+rw/kw

If 200rw/kw is your aim, then the R34 SMIC upgrade is the best option!

yeh please do, if it all goes well for you, i will plan to do it, being a P driver witha 33 gtst and a stealth cooler will get LESS cop attention.

Great Thread. Good Luck

Yea for sure, cops will pick at ANYTHING they can just to issue a fine or defect... especially with us "chocko" looking guys lol

Besides it would put a huge smile on my face when i smash a supra, sti, clubsport etc off the lights and my car looks stock as :(

Cheers

Hahaha always the odd one out ay Paul? :laughing-smiley-014:

By painting it black, it will make it LESS obvious to spot and not to mention when driving at night will be virtually invisable...

Cheers

i have an r32 gtr cooler stealth mounted on my r33 and u cant see it unless you go looking for it

just how a good intercoolers should be

does an awesome job cool.ing also

Yea i was considering a GTR cooler.. but for the total cost of cooler + custom piping + fitting, might as well get a TRUST FMIC kit ($795) and get it sprayed black...

Cheers

Thanks for the advise Ronin ill keep it in mind, although for $50 or so, a Radiator repair shop will spray it with their thermal paint and will also aid in cooling...

Cheers

Hey Guys, just got a quote for $10 from a radiator shop to spray an FMIC kit with black thermal paint...

    • HKS trigger kit should be very easy to integrate with a Link. It's a 36-2 crank trigger. Hard part is finding the motivation to take off the timing belt and everything on the front of the engine to install it. You also need to cut out a hole in the oil pump housing so the sensor can read the trigger wheel. Changing out the cam sensor for a 24 tooth setup is probably good enough but as others have mentioned depending on what underlying assumptions are changed it becomes more of a problem. Reading the crank state off of the cam is an abstraction that works in the general case, but if you have an edge case it makes less and less sense. There is a GTX2860 gen 2 that can take a compact 5 bolt housing so it's direct bolt on but I'm not 100% sure of what's involved. Peak compressor efficiency drops off a bit on these turbos vs -5s, 77% vs 73% but you get way, way wider region of operation. The -5s have a really strange surge line in their compressor map that is all over the place. If you think the hot side on the -5s aren't open enough you can try the Tomei T550B turbos which a local tuner seems to be happy with:
