MAS_R33
Hi Guys, Removing my standard rear speakers on a sII R33 in getting the car ready for window tinting. Anyone whos done this before care to give some advice or steps as not as not straight forward as i thought.. i have undone the main center bolt... but not sure what to do next, do i rip up the grill (very hard to get off)?? If i do i think im going to damage it.... Is there some concealed screw / bolt that needs to be removed from the bottom that i dont know about? why cant there be a DIY guide on this :-) cheers Edited December 25, 2006 by ASTRO_R33 Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148656-r33-standard-rear-speaker-removal/ Share on other sites

Trav33
My 33 doesnt have rear speakers, only holes where they once were! Are you trying to remove just the speakers, or the whole parcel shelf? Can't the window tinting guys work around the rear speakers anyway??? sky017
in order to access the speakers or remove the grill - you need to unhook the back seat , firstly removing the bottom seat though. rocketboy
Take rear seats out. Bottom part first - 2 bolts at front just under lip of seat. back is another 2 bolts by seatbelt anchors. The push seat up and pull out. Rear tray has the C pillar trim clipped into either side. just caefully bend tray to get out. Pull towards front of car without lifting as there are a few clips that clip to metal parcel tray. Speakers are bolted to mounts that are bolted/screwed to metal parcel shelf. _________________ Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148656-r33-standard-rear-speaker-removal/#findComment-2778492 Share on other sites

MAS_R33
Sounds like he's removed the parcel shelf guys! thanks for the replies... yep speakers covers came out, was hoping to do it without removing parcel shelf but had to remove it. I'm pretty sure complete parcel shelf setup was stock SII (Sanyo 30W speakers and covers that had a bolt through the middle of them?). All good :-) Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148656-r33-standard-rear-speaker-removal/#findComment-2783198 Share on other sites
RANDY
heh.. the bolts through the middle of them are for compliance usually. They have to put the child restraint bolts in, and through the speaker is where they need to be! They have to put the child restraint bolts in, and through the speaker is where they need to be! install some mad speakers in the rear (focals) then put the stock parcel tray back in and glue the restraint plastic covers over the stock grills cut the top of the bolt end off and glue it so it looks like its actually in place. :-) looks like its compliant but the po po wont no lol FTW Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/148656-r33-standard-rear-speaker-removal/#findComment-3011252 Share on other sites
