my current ride , the 33 gtr is sweet . but im thinking of building a purpose built drifter .

what model would be best suited ?

s13 - either get an old na shitter and do it up or a fairly nice 91+ SR20 with potential

cefiro - great drifter but a bit hard to find now the 15 year rule is all stupid . 4 doors would be cool

r32 or r33 - either sedan or coupe . would prefer sedan for something a bit different (atleast the 33 sedan is not common for drift) , would probably prefer 33 due to better engine and box but i think the 32 chassie would be a bit nibler for drifting

s15 - the last and most expensive option . probably not going to happen but would be nice

any thoughts would be appreciated

its really each to their own and what your comfortable with. Obviously an s13 based drifter is best for 'drift physics' however, just say you've driven a 33 for a while now and your used to catching that sort of base in oversteer then that's probably what your going to be better at. I drove a mates S15 today and found it was a HELL of a lot harder to go from my car (R33) to his S15. totally different feel and mannerisms. go with what suits you. BUT if you dont give a shit and wanna learn something new then definetly S13 cheap and easy.

are r34 engines good for drifting, i heard they can stuff up (oil pressure or something)??

i was thinking of taking my car to a practise night in the new year & just wondering what precautions i will need.

cheers

im pretty sure you wont have a problem. oil swishing around your sump is a major issue for all motors without a dry sump setup. I'm unsure if you can get those winged sumps like the SR's have. but yea oil splish splash is a no no for all motors, whether it be drift OR drag. other than that you could sit that thing on the limiter all day long and she'll be fine. just make sure you got all your fluids to the correct level. I wouldn't take a motor out thrashing without a fmic. that's a definate.
