Day At Mallala - Professional Coaching + Driving On The Track

Recommended Posts

I was the starter of this thread, although others have suggested it before. I didnt think there was enough interest, thought it would be hard to scratch enough numbers together. I've heard of drift practise days (one this weekend at AIR), so personally i'll attend some of these first before spending heaps of dough on professional coaching.

I'm interested in track days at Mallala or somewhere similar and know of 4 other guys who are also interested. Training would be preferable but not essential. Not interested in drifting at all - prefer to find the perfect line and lowest lap time. I just thought there must be a reason why every year someone mentions "lets do a track day" and nothing ever seems to eventuate whereas the other states seem to have events fairly regularly (I know some of them have larger SAU member numbers and formal clubs).

We could just get a bunch of people together and go out to a normal grip practice day at Mallala. $90 + $20 for temp CAMS licence.

This way there's no organising the event as such, just choose a date for everyone to go out at once? Just an idea anyway

thats a point but how many cars do they have to one of these evens

im sure with another club we can get those sort of numbers because your only on the track for 10 min stints

There isn't any amount needed, its a open track day practice for anyone! More than likely you'll be out there with proper race cars, Although in saying that, last time i went out with a mate they hada 2 sessions, 1 for cams licence holders and the other for non licence holders! just so people don't hold up the real race car people! speaking of which i will be out there hopefully in 2 weeks when we run our IP car, provided we get the engine in!

Yep, just open practice for anyone that wants to drive down there. So yeah, I was thinkin we could all pick a date (available on mallala.com) and then head down there as a group for a bit of fun :nyaanyaa:

won't be out there in 2 weeks as engine issues are holding us back a week or 2, Damit! But also on the sunday in 2 weeks tome there is also Modern Reg, where you set a lap time a stick to it! I will prob head out Sun and catch up with a few of the Superkarters!

sounds good to me showza!

ok sorry i took so long but when i first went to trackskill Adam wasnt there

i got some info i think we will have to group with 2 other clubs all up

Trackskill Days are $300 inc. bring you own car doesnt matter if theres only you or a bunch of others price does not change

Trackskill Club Days are $5000 hence why we need a couple of clubs to join in to get the price down to something feasable the more people that come the cheaper it is

if we get 30 club members to go along that would mean we all pay $166.66

so that might mean

10 SAU club members

10 Evo club members

10 WRX club members

don't necessarily have to be those clubs

the day is a 9.00am till 4:30pm

Adam was saying to break up the day they can also run motokhana whilst there as well

Thoughts ??

Steve, that sounds great! I'm definately VERY keen in this and would be first in line to plonk down the cash to secure my position! If the interest is good and you need some help, I'm offering to help you out with whatever you need >_<

ok so maybee put in some effort and a proposal to peoples interested and ill think of which other clubs to invite i lean maybee towards the less though of clubs CSA RPM or PGA

when ive done all this make a thread on all associated forums and set a date for like 2 months from the time of thread starting to get definite interest from 30 people

personally i would like to get a brake upgrade before going on track so some DBA slotted rotors and R32 front calipers and maybe rears also

OR 10 of us could hire the track at mallala $300 each or 20 at $150 each, i have spoken to clem smith and he can give me the track for a weekday for $3000 includes fireys, ambo's but no stewards but gf's could do that. and we can invite who we like and have the whole track for a whole day. all you need to do is pay $20 bucks extra for a temporary cams licence for the day, if you already have one no extra charge. that way we all get heaps of track time, without too many cars.

I like the sound of that idea, and $300 ain't too steep, especially with so few cars... easy to get a day off in advance too! I'd be more keen for this setup personally if we could get it going

Another good idea, but lacks the driver training which from what I've heard is great. I would be keen for driver training, depending on when it is. Hopefully it's not too close to other events. But I'm just keen for more track time, so I'd go in for hiring the track for the day too

Oh, and very late notice, but if anyone is keen for just normal Mallala grip practice, I'm going out this Saturday with a couple of mates.

Gates open at 8:30, close at 4:30. Get divided into groups in the morning and then run for 20-30min sessions. It's open practice for cars and carts.

i'd be in.

do we need cams licence on top of the $166 or so? or does the roughly $166 include everything?

cheers!

yeah that is all inc.

either ways sounds good im not up for one too early though as i would like to get brakes but that isnt going to be a limiting factor just i need to be aware in a few laps of pushing i will prolly cook brakes

Is it essential - ie a rule - to wear a helmet and you have to supply your own? I'm in for any senario whether that be a training day, hiring the venue or an open track day. Would like to do all three in that order I guess.
